On the look out again!

Well after just under 2 weeks of X5 ownership, of which I had the car physically for one week, I have just agreed to a full refund for my car.

To cut a long story short, an issue was found on the car which should have been dealt with prior to sale (don't want to go into it - nothing major, but could lead to future problems). They've looked at the issue, realised the fault and just offered me a full refund or to fix the issue. I've decided to cut my losses and accept the refund. Should all be confirmed tomorrow.

So, wasn't sure where to post this, but that's my story. Might give up the ghost already on X5's and go sensible.

Decisions decisions. Just glad I bought from a dealer for that piece of mind.

Crikey! Pity as that looks like a very nice example too.

So the dealer will fix it and put it back up for sale - good of them to give the refund (I assume without hassle).

I think they'll just put it out to the trade as opposed to do the work themselves.

Let me know what you have to spend, what your requirements are, etc, and I'll find some options for you! I love car searching :D

Im Intrigued, what was the issue? so much so, that you think they will put it out to trade.
Yeah they've said that's what will be happening.

Same here.

Think I'm gonna go new again.

The only Beemer i'd have (other than my zm of course) is the 1 series coupe. It's lovely and really nice to drive. I remember you were tempted by one a while back. 123d M sport with the toys or the full Monty 130 M sport.

They're proving to have great residuals as well!

Mmm sorry to hear this, maybe it wasn't to be. If I was you I would go and see a 370Z and see what you think :sweetheart:

Sen, what do you want to spend then? PM me if you want, and I'll give you some alternatives! :D

Yep - thats what I'm thinking of now. I actually specc'd up a 120d coupe yesterday (although will still consider the 123d as well), and it came out at £30,600. Its £25,200 on drivethedeal.com. Anyone used these before or know of anyone who has?

Not a fan of it myself to be honest Mike - I think I'm going to go down the sensible route. Efficient dynamics, cheap tax etc. Saying that, I've not seen one in the flesh yet, so you never know!

Would like to keep it to £25,000 if I can, better if £20,000.

How about a decent deal like this

http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/BMW+1+SERIES/Ne-2-4-5-6-7-8-27-44-49-53-61-64-67-103-133-146-236,N-58-240-4294966348-4294967078/advert.action?R=200923335681636&distance=44&postcode=g415ds&channel=CARS&make=BMW&model=1+SERIES&min_pr=&max_pr=&max_mileage=&vehicleYearOfManufacture=2008&vehicleRegLetter=08

Or a beauty like this

Or main dealer nice spec like this (nice colour too)

It definitely has to be an M sport model.

And I think I'm deffo going for diesel.

The last one is nice - however, I've actually seen a 58 plate space grey one for £22k at Sytner Sheffield.

Saying that, the drivethedeal offer is tempting me even more. Have read some fantastic reviews about them. Just gotta decide re: Nav - as I like it in my cars, and the system is better in newer models, but its still bloody expensive.

There's been a few coupes appear recently - i think BMW UK are forcing the dealers to take them as they have a back stock somewhere. Shoud mean you'll get a deal if you fight hard enough.

Good luck - I think it's a peach and the pick of the current BMW line up (M cars aside).

Douglas Park Glasgow had a really nice space grey one with red leather and nav etc a few weeks ago. I don't know if they still have it, but it was really really nice!

Blimey! Good you have been offered a full refund.

I must be honest though, there is no way I would spend 'Z4M' money on a diesel one series (Unless you're doing mega miles). I would expect the depreciation in a new 1-er to be far greater than a Z4M and more than offset the savings in tax, fuel etc. All IMHO of course :)

Plus theyre ugly! :P (sorry)

I do actually really like them, always have.

I know this sounds silly but there's no way I would have gone from the M straight to a 1 series coupe. But the small transition I've had means it doesn't seem as bad. I really like the drive of diesels these days too, quite nice.

I'm with you 100%. If you'd asked me a year or two ago i would have taken the view that diesel is for tractors and all diesel should be banned from forecourts.

Mark, although the zm is not comparable, you have to remember that a good spec one is a £48K ish car and double a decent 123d coupe. Depreciation occurs on every car but percentage wise, the 1 coupes are doing well.

You really need to have a good look at a good spec 1 series coupe inthe flesh and a drive if you can get it. It's a superb machine - in fact I think EVO magazine claimed the 135i coupe is the best car BMW make today.

The wife has a 116i sport 5 door and it really like the drive from it. It's not as slow as i feared when she chose it and better than the 320 coupe she also tried.

Well, although I was expecting to have a few weeks to look around, I think I've found one already.

120d M sport
30th March 09, 09 plate
ex-demo, with just under 6k on.
Space Grey
Red leather
Bluetooth
USB connection
Xenons
Comfort package

And its working out at £7.5k off list! Now I know I can buy new via drivethedeal but its still about another £3.5k. Think this is a bargain to be honest.

123d would be good, but happy with a 120 anyway (my mate has a 5 door). Only must have missing is cruise. I'd like heated seats but can live without, would spec DAB from new but again don't definitely need, and have scrapped Nav as its just too dear.

So, fingers crossed I'm sorted!

Not considered a used D3 Alpina?

As for the 123d, I can't say I've driven one, but I've been astonished by how quick they are on a PH hoon when I had my STI Impreza. The biggest shock was how high his mpg was when we stopped for breakfast. I could only dream of such frugality...! Nice looking things IMO too.
