The point wasn't that we should take advice from delivery drivers. It was that we shouldn't take advice from scientists that are less accurate than delivery drivers in their predictions.
You can't even blame lack of data for his s**t prediction, there was plenty of other scientists (including the South African officials) claiming that Omicron was mild due to reduced hospitalisations in countries already infected but our SAGE experts went on to predict an Armageddon. This isn't the first time they've been completely wrong, in fact I can't remember a prediction that has been even close.

It's a bit like the pollsters that they bring in every election. Repeatedly wrong but every year their predictions make the front page of every major media outlet.
I don't disagree and was being slightly facetious about the delivery driver thing.
With this 'wave' of the Omicron it has been a propaganda exercise from day one. SAGE answer to the Government. Everybody knows that the vaccine is the ONLY thing we have to help stop the Country coming to a standstill; so the Gov have pushed it; no matter what.
If you say "get the booster it's the only way out" and in the next sentence say "Omicron is mild you'll be OK", that is only going to confuse the f*ck out of people.
Reading between the lines and making our own decisions makes sense to me. Problem is there are too many lines and too many decisions.

Thanks Chris. I will think about your well thought out advice and post back when you have sobered up. Maybe Friday?

You seem to have lost all sense of reality, son, and talking as if you are on SAGE. Unless, of course, you have been been promoted to this position due to your superior knowledge of all things Covid (from an unvaccinated perspective, of course).

In what way? Looking at, understanding and analysing data isnt quantum physics and with some fairly basic understanding its perfectly possible to do so.
I deal with large complex data sets for a living and previously that work included healthcare data from the NHS (around cancer, cancer instances through age groups, genders, socioeconomic status etc.) along with that I'm responsible for using that data to produce reports that include things like trends, projections and to make judgement calls using the data on likely future issues.
You need to be a scientist to accurately gather this type of data not to read or understand it

But you inadvertently illuminate a large part of the problem here, people are treating SAGE and the like as some sort of high holy order that are always right without exception and a group that cannot be challenged as to do so is, for all intents and purposes, heresy.

As R.E92 rightly pointed out the reality is these people have been wrong A LOT with estimates and projections off target to an extent that would get someone like me fired never mind someone working in the private sector.

I don't think SAGE are to be trusted at all. Neil Ferguson predicted 5000 deaths per day without a lockdown. Even the Hermes delivery chap that brings my eBay junk was laughing about how wacky that stat was when it was in the news. When delivery drivers are making more accurate predictions on covid mortality than the chief government scientists then you know something is wrong

Amen.

If Neil Ferguson worked in the car industry he would by a load of M badges, de/re badge a load of e46 2ltr turbo diesel's and a good chunk of this forum would be admiring how their newly acquired S54 M3's build power all the way to redline and sound amazing.

It would also be my fault (for not buying one) that all their cars hit 60mph in 12 seconds rather than the 5 seconds that Neil advised.

It's a joke by the way guys. :driving:

You can argue all you like to vaccinate or not, but 95% of COVID patients occupying hospital beds are under 40s and unvaccinated. Says it all

...which is why I am staying well away from this thread, after I managed to irritate the G29 community so much with my sarky comments about the superfluous gadgets that remind them when to scratch their arse as well as opening windows automatically on detection of farts etc.

Didn’t see this in the options list, is it included in the “comefart pack” 😁

I feel like we've come full circle here.

You said Flyingfifer should not have an opinion because he wasn't a SAGE scientist. Now you have just told me that you believe SAGE are told what to say by the government.
So if SAGE are just puppets that are told what to say by politicians then SAGE advice is not actually from scientists at all?

I just don't follow the logic about the vaccine either. This is the timeline of information I've had so far from the gov/SAGE:
- "The vaccine will stop people getting coronavirus"
- "The vaccine won't stop people getting corona but it will help prevent transmission"
- "The vaccine won't stop transmission but it will reduce possible hospitalisation"
- "You need a 3rd vaccine because the other ones no longer work"
- "A 4th vaccine might be needed because the 3rd one seems to wear off quickly"

At this point I'm being told I must get "boosted" because it will save the NHS.

I'm 34, I eat well and workout daily. I've also already had corona and it was just like a 3 day hangover.
I'm not a mathematician, scientist or a politician but it would seem the chance of me ending up in hospital with corona is non-existant at this point yet I'm still being coerced into having vaccines.

Excuse my lack of SAGE credentials but if I go through the process of being "fully jabbed" I'll currently need 3. For each jab the government are paying the GP who administers it £30, so £90 for all 3, then the cost of the jabs needs to be added which is hard to pin down but seems to be around £10 a shot. So £120 of funds is being used to give me 3 vaccines and then you also need to add the overhead costs of the NHS infrastructure, the GP will still be getting paid his salary and all the other supporting staff will be too.

I pay £7k a year in class 1 NI alone, add to that the amount of money my employer has to pay as contributions and you end up with a massive contribution to this health service. As far as I'm concerned I'm doing more than enough to protect the NHS just by going to work. If the next step of this vaccine drive involves following France and banning people like me from society then I'll more than likely end up having to quit my job and join the benefit queue.

I only asked how others who had omnicron we're feeling....

For what it's worth I've tried to get this thread locked as I regret starting it but I've been ignored so on it rumbles....

I don't put too much value on government stats either, but I put even less value on word of mouth from some random paramedic.

You’d said in another post (One of Peter’s for sale ones I think) that you were in bed feeling rough and iirc that was after you’d started this thread so was just asking if you were feeling better :D

Totally concur.
I also want to know why strategies such as 'natural immunity' have been taken off the agenda, as well as a lack of advice/guidance for taking vitamin D, as well as leading a healthy lifestyle. All those things seem to have been forgotten about somehow.
One of the most sinister moves by the US government has been to remove FDA certification for N-Acetyl Cysteine, which is a natural supplement that's been available from healthfood shops for years and can alleviate the syptoms of covid infection. Amazon have also stopped selling it. Bizarre.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7649937/
Ivermectin seems to have been supressed as a viable treatment too.
The whole vaccine drive is fishier than a fake furry Findus fish finger from Fuzhou fish market!
