The point wasn't that we should take advice from delivery drivers. It was that we shouldn't take advice from scientists that are less accurate than delivery drivers in their predictions.
You can't even blame lack of data for his s**t prediction, there was plenty of other scientists (including the South African officials) claiming that Omicron was mild due to reduced hospitalisations in countries already infected but our SAGE experts went on to predict an Armageddon. This isn't the first time they've been completely wrong, in fact I can't remember a prediction that has been even close.
It's a bit like the pollsters that they bring in every election. Repeatedly wrong but every year their predictions make the front page of every major media outlet.
I don't disagree and was being slightly facetious about the delivery driver thing.
With this 'wave' of the Omicron it has been a propaganda exercise from day one. SAGE answer to the Government. Everybody knows that the vaccine is the ONLY thing we have to help stop the Country coming to a standstill; so the Gov have pushed it; no matter what.
If you say "get the booster it's the only way out" and in the next sentence say "Omicron is mild you'll be OK", that is only going to confuse the f*ck out of people.
Reading between the lines and making our own decisions makes sense to me. Problem is there are too many lines and too many decisions.
I feel like we've come full circle here.
You said Flyingfifer should not have an opinion because he wasn't a SAGE scientist. Now you have just told me that you believe SAGE are told what to say by the government.
So if SAGE are just puppets that are told what to say by politicians then SAGE advice is not actually from scientists at all?
I just don't follow the logic about the vaccine either. This is the timeline of information I've had so far from the gov/SAGE:
- "The vaccine will stop people getting coronavirus"
- "The vaccine won't stop people getting corona but it will help prevent transmission"
- "The vaccine won't stop transmission but it will reduce possible hospitalisation"
- "You need a 3rd vaccine because the other ones no longer work"
- "A 4th vaccine might be needed because the 3rd one seems to wear off quickly"
At this point I'm being told I must get "boosted" because it will save the NHS.
I'm 34, I eat well and workout daily. I've also already had corona and it was just like a 3 day hangover.
I'm not a mathematician, scientist or a politician but it would seem the chance of me ending up in hospital with corona is non-existant at this point yet I'm still being coerced into having vaccines.
Excuse my lack of SAGE credentials but if I go through the process of being "fully jabbed" I'll currently need 3. For each jab the government are paying the GP who administers it £30, so £90 for all 3, then the cost of the jabs needs to be added which is hard to pin down but seems to be around £10 a shot. So £120 of funds is being used to give me 3 vaccines and then you also need to add the overhead costs of the NHS infrastructure, the GP will still be getting paid his salary and all the other supporting staff will be too.
I pay £7k a year in class 1 NI alone, add to that the amount of money my employer has to pay as contributions and you end up with a massive contribution to this health service. As far as I'm concerned I'm doing more than enough to protect the NHS just by going to work. If the next step of this vaccine drive involves following France and banning people like me from society then I'll more than likely end up having to quit my job and join the benefit queue.
