Argyll Andy said:That’s probably the most cost effective way but as FF has said some places are wary of doing it. Mine is very reluctant to do cheap parts but with this I’ll leave the boxes sealed so he’ll know he’s dealing with new genuine parts. We have an understanding that if the part fails it, or the removal/refit aren’t his responsibility.
For info, he was quoting almost twice the price for the same parts through his regular supplier. But as you say in your circumstances you are prepared to pay a premium just to get it sorted because of everything else going on. Mine is in my daily but I’m still WFH so sitting a bit longer didn’t bother me![]()

They went with a Gates water pump which haven’t been talked about much on here, but doing a bit of research they’re a pretty legit company having been in the business for 100+ years! A pump from them cost my guy £350 quid and it was only an hour and a half job.
I also got a bit of hydraulic tappet noise (lifter tick for Americans) immediately after my overheat and immediately after starting up at the mechanic, but this went away after my 30 mile drive back.
