It's just not feasible to expect the majority of car owners to switch to electric with overnight charging.
Can you imagine the terraced streets with extension leads across the pavements :D its laughable we have got this far without a proper solution for all instead of just attracting the buyers who are getting on board simply for tax perks.
I read last week that we would need 4000 charge points installing every day for 15years to get close to the UKs future needs if we all went electric , that's just never going to happen.
Plus the national grid would explode every night between 6pm-7pm when folks got home & plugged in for the night.
Isn't self charging the way forward?

See, that sounds fantastic to me. Cruising round the highlands silently in a light, comfy cabin. Single supplier sounds good too - there are 5-6 main charging networks down here and many need you to set up an app/account etc in advance.

Hydrogen, specifically PEM electrolysis, is looking promising for demand management within the renewable energy grid. It feels like fuel cell and hydrogen storage technology missed the boat a few years ago and battery technology is getting good enough now to provide decent range and longevity for most people, but as it becomes more viable to cheaply distribute caches of hydrogen everywhere, who knows what will happen. The safety side of things was certainly massively overblown, back in the day, so it’s mostly a cost barrier now.

I have a model 3 performance coming in May as my replacement company car. I also currently have the C350e hybrid which has been v comfortable but otherwise dreadful to drive lol. I figured having the Model 3 Perf and Z4MC would be the best combo. But I am little worried the MC will feel a bit slow when compared to my daily driver once the tesla arrives. This is a truly bonkers age where my company car will be 0 tax and minimal cost to me each month, be much quicker in a straight line than my weekend sports toy!!!???? What has happened to the world....??
The MC will cost me more each month in tax and petrol than the tesla... but the tesla won't have the sound and rawness of the MC. Makes me doubt I will ever get the supercharger kit on the MC though.

As you say the Tesla will be fast in a straight line but won't provide the same drama as the MC.

It's the main reason I wanted to hold on to mine - it's an experience like no other. But I just can't justify it unfortunately with 4 kids & 3 dogs the weekends are pretty much written off for me so the only time I get to use it is for to work appointments.

Once the Tesla arrives I can't justify using the MC when I will only be able to claim 4p a mile - my other concern is that I have the Tesla on a 4 year lease and know once the novelty wears off of the technology I will be bored out of my brain wanting to be back in the MC.

Like you say its mad what they are producing now but still nothing compares with the MC - not saying they won't get there eventually but they're nowhere close currently unless you look at the Taycan but if I had £84k to spend on that I'd have no problem justifying holding on to the MC :rofl:
