M Steering wheel.

I'll be getting a mechanic guy to do it sometime next week, he's been majorly busy this week, lots of people breaking down  I'd go in and do it myself whilst he'd there, but don't want to disturb him when he's so busy.

I think the cold probably isn't helping with the nut's tightness, but the t-bar I was using was pretty big, I did look for a tube to extend the lenght but couldn't find anything suitable, I may have another look this weekend.

It seems the overall diameter is pretty much the same, judging by this pic from the link with the fitting guide, I've not actualy held them up to each other myself :| But I think the extra chunkyness gives an impression of a smaller diameter.

I'm having a major virus problem with my PC at home, so may not be online much this weekend.

Looking good for me to order this wheel! So impressed with the price!

It is the same wheel then but just without the different coloured stitching? You gonna have another try at fitting it? :D :D

I'm tempted to go to a non-MFSW (I like the clean minimalist look), would it be any cheaper to get a non-MFSW M-sport one?

Going to ring around a few BMW garages tomorrow with a shopping list anyway. New key, valet key, proper Z4 floor mats, and maybe the M-sport non-mfsw :D

I bid £180 for a non msfw on ebay second hand - i am now very happy i got out bid! In the end got the normal leather one for £40 but knowing this back then would been a no brainer :o

I tried ordering this today and they refused!! They wount let me do it!

He said its not compatible and they can't sell me something that will stop my airbag working!

Theres only one Official BMW dealer where I live!!

What a joke :x

Just order it over the phone, then go pick it up. Or even get a member on here to order one for you and post it... won't cost THAT much all considered.

If your dealer wants to lose money, their problem I guess

I did try ordering it on the phone. Hes going to ring me again on monday now once his manager is in to ask his permission!!

If it doesn't pan out I will try another dealer but just have to travel.

What a bunch of gooooons!

why dont you just say its for decoration in your garage and not for your car. i dont see any reason why they cant sell you the wheel. its none of their business what you will use it for. id raise hell! lol

I had to wait for the guy to phone me back before he would order it. They do seem a bit fussy over this kind of thing, they probably don't want the risk of loosing money from unwanted items, or customers complaining that something doesn't fit right. I'm sure you be able to find a dealer who will supply it eventualy, maybe get a forum member to order one and then meet up at some point.

I got mine installed today, during lunch whilst on Spokey's excellent cruise  Thanks to Jeeper who brought a nice big socket and bar, the job was done in about 10 minutes.

I'm sure the non MFSW would be cheaper, I like the volume controls on the wheel though.

The extra chunkyness takes a lot of getting used to, the texture of the wheel is also a little odd. On initial thoughts, something inbetween the two types of wheel would have been even better, but I do like the M style wheel. I'll have to see how I get used to it in the next few weeks.

Glad you got it fitted :D

We just need some pics now! Hopefully he will call back and say its ok to order, if not I will try another dealer and say its a present or something.

CJ is a great bloke always very helpful!

Why don't you just order it for an ///M?
If they insist on a vehicle ID, then I'm sure you can get a registration off Piston heads or Ebay or even ask a ///M owner here. I once quoted the reg off a car on my dealers own forecourt to ID and order a part that was not OEM to mine :)

Doesn't need to be an M, just a Z4 after 2005. The one for an M would have multicoloured stitching I think and when I looked on the parts lists it was a lot more expensive when for the Z4M.

I like your thinking :D

If it doesn't pan out I'm going to try another and say its a present for my uncle. The one with multicolored sticking is about £600-700!

I like the piston heads idea I might have to use that!! :D :D
