London attack

My grandparents always said being a liberal country will backfire on us in the end.

Tim.

yep, because, a generation or two down the line, you no longer have people who feel helped, you have people who feel entitled.

Just seen it on the news........ Worse than the wild west.........
What the hell is happening...... beyond belief.

Important to remember at this time we know very little about these 2 disgusting individuals. Lets not brand every Muslim or foreigner a terrorist.

Indeed, not every Muslim is a terrorist ....
But if this sort of thing keeps on happening .... It will not be long before communities start thinking .....
Get rid of all the muslims, and by default, you get rid of all the terrorists .....

it could be just another version of nutterdom. There are murders by weirdos every now and then. Sometimes their motivations are religious. Sometimes someone looked at them funny.

Terrible as it is for the family of the victim I think we might be sensible to increase funding to the local community mental health team rather than MI5.

Anyway, we shall see. Knee-jerk responses rarely make sense in retrospect. Those facebook extracts are typical limbic thinking, I would delete them, they have no merit.
Couldn't have said it better myself

Far too liberal (blinkered?) thinking for me.

More so why throw more tax payers money at people we don't want and they don't want to be here

Trouble is Ranski. They (The radical infiltrators) do want to be in your country. Just like they want to be in my country. Even though they hate our countries. The reason for their presence is to try and co opt both our countries to become the country they came from. I wouldn't paint the whole of the immigrant Muslim population with the broad brush. I speak of the radicals only.

Unless I misunderstood the rantings made by one of the killers. (why the news even broadcast his rantings is another subject for debate) He very clearly made a point of identifying himself as Muslim. And as having killed for Islam. Until our moderate Muslim brothers see the light and start cleaning their house from within. I will unfortunately view Islam suspiciously. That's tragic and a position I would not prefer to be in.

Who exactly do you mean by "these people" that we should kick out?

Was a genuine question, sorry is debate not allowed in your dictatorship?

"The real differences around the world today are not between Jews and Arabs; Protestants and Catholics; Muslims, Croats, and Serbs. The real differences are between those who embrace peace and those who would destroy it; between those who look to the future and those who cling to the past; between those who open their arms and those who are determined to clench their fists."

I feel the teacher coming out in me now - Time Out boys !

Let's just all agree that the family, friends and family of the young man, and the victim himself are in our thoughts tonight. An awful, tragic event which all of us hope will never occur again.

I took what Ranski meant as exactly what you said Ste... 'These People' = Those who do not embrace peace, do not embrace the ethics and moral standing of the country they live in, those who think themselves above and beyond the law and those who have little or no respect for others or life itself. I too wish them out of our country! I'm all for being diverse and accepting of others but there is a line!

Sad, sad news :(

This sort of incident is what fuels racism. Rightly or wrongly, I can just hear the comments being shouted at the TV's tonight all over the country when this is played on the news. It doesn't actually matter what colour the offender(s) were, or what "cause" they say it was for....the fact is those individuals (like those before...and sadly, plenty to follow) are murdering scum with no regard for human life.

Nothing wrong with genuine asylum seekers fleeing their own country due to a real threat of death etc. I don't know the facts or figures to know how much that system is abused (if at all).

However, if someone settles here, be it via asylum or immigration, then they are saying they want to be in this country. Therefore they must behave! It is a simple piss-take for someone to come here and commit a crime and then be allowed to stay. If they don't want to be here, then bugger off. Plenty of other countries who must sign up to these asylum/immigration laws?

And this applies to anyone going to any country....its not aimed at race etc. If I emigrated to America and I broke the law, it would be quite right for them to send me home! (just so long as the odd speeding ticket can be overlooked!).

Chances are the people that did this today were mentally messed up. It does seem that a lot of terrorists at the moment are Muslim.....but then, a while back you could've said they were Irish....they are extremist scum who are brainwashed into thinking that killing innocent people is acceptable and will in some way help their cause. I know nothing of the Muslim religion, but also hear a lot of people saying that nowhere does it promote such actions, so, again, its the extremists. And they don't have to be "foreigners", or even born into that religion....lots of examples of people who have converted to it and taken this route.

But as I say, it doesn't really matter what the offender believed in - in our laws in this country, they are murderers. Plenty of instances of nutters doing mass shootings etc on innocent people that I don't think are religion motivated. Very easy to blame religion and forget to blame the perpetrator.

We can all agree with that to be honest.

I just long for the day where we divide our lines between those "who embrace peace and those who would destroy it" rather than on any failed notion of "belonging" here based on what? Religion? Colour? How long we've lived here? How much we love Coronation Street?

Britain is a country of freedom and respect, those that disagree with those principles are the ones who do not "belong here" as Tim so eloquently put it, regardless of any other factor.

I don't want this to turn into a slagging fest as it will solve nothing, ppl won't change their views on subjects like this regardless of which side they bat for

Asylum isn't the issue, it's ppl that make a mockery of it, I'm sure the majority like being here and it's the few who ruin it for all

A lot come here and benefit the society, slightly different as I know Malta and uk have a very special relationship but I was born and lived in Malta until I was 2, came here and am now serving, and would die defending the uk, as many thousands would. If a Maltese person came over and did something horrendous like this then I would be saddened If ppl used that against me. Just a shame there are extremists in the world.

Just rambling as normal. But is it really too difficult to differentiate between the innocent and the extremists? Bear in mind there are extremists on every side of the fence

Well said

This is a very real problem. 'These people' want, ultimately, to turn our country into a Muslim state. They really believe that we are all sinners and the only salvation is for all of us to become Muslims.

I'm not religious in any way, but respect anybody who is, for whatever reason. Just respect my opinions as well as your own. Meanwhile, lets trust that our security forces keep these bastards down.
