it could be just another version of nutterdom. There are murders by weirdos every now and then. Sometimes their motivations are religious. Sometimes someone looked at them funny.

Terrible as it is for the family of the victim I think we might be sensible to increase funding to the local community mental health team rather than MI5.

Anyway, we shall see. Knee-jerk responses rarely make sense in retrospect. Those facebook extracts are typical limbic thinking, I would delete them, they have no merit.

Far too liberal (blinkered?) thinking for me.

More so why throw more tax payers money at people we don't want and they don't want to be here

Okay

Assuming the chap is a Somali refugee (60 40) it is because we are signatories to the UN Charter on HR and asylum is one of the sevices all decent nations promise to offer to the stateless, the persecuted, and the tortured. Often the people have been broken. It can be very expensive but sometimes doing the right thing is difficult.

Which makes my blood boil and decent as our nation is the sooner we kick these people out the better. Doing the right thing often brings about many wrongs.

My grandparents always said being a liberal country will backfire on us in the end.

We hope every one else in the world will live by our own morals and standards. They won't. we need to grasp this or we wil see this kind of barbaric act more and more. We could be a very safe ISLAND but we open our doors to all and sundry and get it thrown it back at us.
I am very angry and bitter at the shite that "we", common 'man' have to put up with in the name of our leaders back patting climb up the greasy pole. This is a prime example

On the face of it, maybe, but when you consider what it would be like to live in a world where no one can escape their government? Being able to flee, set up dissident support groups, alternative governments, organisations to ameliorate suffering in the home country. There are so many ways that asylum makes the world a better place for those persecuted and repressed by authoritarian and totalitarian regimes.

I think crappy and broken people running amok (rarely) is a price we have to accept.

Sorry I completely disagree, personally I couldn't give a monkeys about other countries, its upto them to sort out their own mess just like this country should be doing.

I don't want this to turn into a slagging fest as it will solve nothing, ppl won't change their views on subjects like this regardless of which side they bat for

Asylum isn't the issue, it's ppl that make a mockery of it, I'm sure the majority like being here and it's the few who ruin it for all

A lot come here and benefit the society, slightly different as I know Malta and uk have a very special relationship but I was born and lived in Malta until I was 2, came here and am now serving, and would die defending the uk, as many thousands would. If a Maltese person came over and did something horrendous like this then I would be saddened If ppl used that against me. Just a shame there are extremists in the world.

Just rambling as normal. But is it really too difficult to differentiate between the innocent and the extremists? Bear in mind there are extremists on every side of the fence

you can neither be the world police, nor the world saviour....

we need to deal with our own issues before forcing others to live by our standards, or allowing people to come to our country to "save them", our arrogance and stupidity makes us a target for idiots like this...

RIP to the fallen soldier
