Well... even though plasma is on its way out, this is really a shame, as except for good old CRT tubes you can't beat them picture wise.
I had a nice 32" Philips LCD panel before switching to my full-HD 42" Panasonic Plasma, and this looks so much better.
Biggest problems for Plasma: power usage, less contrast (should't have direct sunlight on the screen).
Biggest pro's for Plasma: better blacks, better color reproduction, no smearing (excellent for sports).
Biggest problems for LCD: smearing and blurring during high motion scenes (and all those electronic countermeasures just don't help).
Biggest pro's for LCD: high contrast usable even in overbrightly lit rooms, less power hungry.
I'd advice on getting a nice Panasonic Plasma, a full-HD one, at least 42", which should also support 24 frames per second...
Then get a Sony PS3 or a dedicated Blu-Ray player and enjoy!
