Know your G29

When you first start the car, below the temperature gauge it says COLD in text. Once your car has warmed up a little, the lettering disappears and you just have the temp gauge.
I'm not sure what that signifies beyond the engine temp is really cold and you probably shouldn't give it the full beans :-)

You can show the sport display from CAR->vehicle status-> sport display, which has the oil temperature gauge. It will give you a bit more details. The engine temperature shown in the dashboard is the water temperature and from 50 degree C, the cold symbol will go away.

I have that as one of my smart keys for checking engine oil temp.

My configuration of smart keys and its purpose:
1. Tyre pressure monitor - obvious purpose
2. Sports display - show you some more parameters ( oil temp, boost pressure, G force, torque, power) although if I want to see the detail parameters, I use BimmerLink to stream the live data
3. Trip computer - we have three trip computers to log the trip data and it’s easier to switch between them with shortcuts (I’m nerd on data so use individual to log data for certain test purpose)
4. Energy flow - although G29 doesn’t have any sort of hybrid, this page can actually show you what block the auto start stop from stopping the engine (e.g useful when queuing at McDonald’s drive through but the car refuses to auto stop).
5. Unassigned
6. Unassigned
7. Work address - I know the road but I still set the navi to make use of the RTTI during peak time
8. Home address - as above

+1

You’re both a disgrace and should be banned from this forum. Where’s a mod when you need one!?!? ;)

You're ahead of me as I don't really know what they are :D
Move you finger across the 1-8 buttons and gently touch them without pressing, you will see something changed on the top of the screen. Then, if you long press one of those button, the item your cursor currently at on the screen will be remembered by that button. :tumbleweed:

One question from me actually, have any of you noticed the wiper arm movement sort of has a click effect when it move to the top position? What I mean by click effect is that the arm moves up smoothly until the last 1cm before it to move down then the arm slows and jumps the last 1cm. I'm just wondering whether all G29s are like this or just mine.

Au contraire, you’re the one that should be banned as we’re out actually driving our cars and you’re sitting stationary in yours p!ssing about with the tech :poke: :rcard:

Yeah yeah. You’re the kind of person who buys sky Q and watches nothing in 4K as you don’t know how to use the tech!

Besides. Some of us are dealing with identity theft at the moment. Got my pin for my shiny new bank accounts! ;)

Well said and now I've done over 1000 miles, gosh this car gains speed effortlessly and quickly :driving:
Oh and my all season tyres are quieter, more comfortable and seem to be more fuel efficient

Thanks yet again.

I had programmed a couple of the buttons on my last Beemer but I didn't bother with any more as I could never remember what I'd programmed them to do

That's why there is the function of you gently touch the button and the information of how each button is programmed will be display. Even though I know how mine is programmed and I still rely on the displayed information while driving :headbang:

Which tyre you go for? When I put my G31's 17inch winter on the G29, I also noticed the power output is a bit more delayed and gentle compared to the 19inch PSS summer. Do you notice similar or you haven't had too much experience with the summer?

I’ve got sky Q but what’s this four thousand you refer too? Do my sky box have a mileage or a program counter? :poke:

Ah well, after all my hard work cloning your identity I’ve been rumbled, back to the drawing board

Still sticking to my drive it rather than play with the tech :poke:

Yes, it gets off the mark rather quickly :driving:

I haven’t driven mine for a few weeks with stuff going on but it’s still on summers and fuel efficient, what’s that :P

Yes it has. After you've watched TV for 4K hours, your contract discount period will end and you need to pay for the full price. Also, it's condition based service so this is just a rough estimation.

They’re Continental AllSeasonContacts 255/35 R19’s all round, that means the rears are slightly smaller than the 275/35 R19 summer tyres. This means more torque at the wheel, which should give a better response, so whilst the engine revs higher for the same speed, there’s actually less load on the engine, hence the better fuel economy.
