Know your G29

Well, after deleting and recreating my driver profile, in an attempt to get the elusive RSU everyone else seems to have, I am now back at stage one trying to find my fav. Preferences again.

For those who wanted to know where the auto brake while reversing is, just go into reverse and there is a settings button and you can select the feature there.

While we are all super skilled drivers akin to Lewis himself, this feature is bloody useful. ;))))

I’ll be checking tomorrow to make sure it’s switched on and if not it’ll be going on

Scuba, are you the only one on here having an issue with the RSU?

I may do! I assume I have the latest software.

Scuba,
Has it update now?

Andy,

It’s on by default I think, but it has the option to include side obstacles.

As discussed, that may well be how I never took my oil tank out with my complete stupidity rather my lightning fast reactions

Nope, still not showing for me at all. BMW connected have been useless, no one really seems to know how it works, some vague "they are released in batches sir." Suggestion now is to take it into local dealers. I'll wait until service is due.

That’s actually true. They aren’t all released at the same time.

Hope so, I think the 10th of last month was original release date though.

I wonder if I added your VIN as another vehicle if it’d tell me an update was available or do I need to be in/near your car to do that?

Worth a try mate.

[ref]Scubaregs[/ref], maybe have a try of my previously suggested update app and services method. I found many connected drive related issue is due to the car and bmw server lost sync. Two weeks ago when I bought the high beam assistant during the Black Friday sale, I need to do this for the newly subscribed service to appeared in the remote software update menu. So did many time that my app stopped updating my two cars’ status. I can’t guarantee this will solve your issue but it costs nothing to try.

I’ll check what software version I’m on.
As you just pick up your new car, it should come with 07.2021-50 software. All cars rolled off production line after June should have this latest software installed from factory.

I think that’s what it is. Have you tried doing a software update in the car rather than through the app?

Also my car did a full software update when I purchased high beam assist. I forgot about that.

Ah, okay. Looks like this doesn't solve your issue. Then I don't know what else you can do other than bring it back to dealer. :tumbleweed:

I think the full car software update requires the APP and you can not do that without the app. When BMW rolls new sw out, a request will be sent to the vehicle to self-check all modules' compatibility and upon passing all checks, the car will send notice to the APP either via bmw server or when you connect your phone in the car. Once your phone has the new sw downloaded, it will then transfer the sw to the car while the phone is in and connected. All these step is just to save some data (about 2GB per car) transmitted via the onboard sim card. I guess Scubaregs' issue is certain module doesn't give correct response when performing the self-check.

About the high beam assistant, I don't think it requires a full car update. It's more like coding certain modules with FSC activation code. In this case, the data size need to be transfered is very small compared to the full car update. Therefore, it can happen without the app involved.

The day my car was delivered I had a RSU waiting ready to be uploaded, so I do not think it is the car per se.
