Know your G29

I don’t think I could cope with all this tech, I can barely work out how the central heating control works in the house. Although I quite like the idea of having a car from StarTrek I’d better stick with my old e85 tech instead  LLAP

I’m sure people used to say that about the tech in the e85.

Like most things, you end up using the features you find useful. I love tech. ;)

Does the “locate my car” work over any distance?

Well my car is in the West Midlands and I'm in Southern Spain. Is that far enough for you? :D

Do us a solid. Hope on s plane to Australia and check to see if it works? Let’s test this thing properly! 😂😂

Not specifically a G29 thing but a feature that I like on the My BMW app is the "locate my car".

I am currently enjoying a week of sunshine in Marbella and have left my car on the drive. My neighbour has the house keys and access to the car keys but I'm pleased to see that the car hasn't moved from the drive

The best thing about the app is that it not only tells you where the car is, it tells you that it’s locked, so no worrying did I lock the car whilst at a restaurant or cinema and then forgetting where you parked it :headbang:

How the chuff did you get to 55 without worrying yourself to death before all this tech Sars....?? :poke:

"QUOTE" - virtually everything above

No wonder there is a chip shortage with the amount of semi-conductors in these 'new-fangled' cars. :poke:
As for adaptive cruise control; try getting behind a lorry on any motorway and forgetting it's ON. I have wasted many an hour with this technology. :D :poke:

When we first got the Golf (it’s standard fit item) it took me ages to get used to that when on the Motorway, after four years I automatically anticipate when it’s about to start to slow the car so I overtake before it cuts in.

I think it’s called estrogen, have I left the gas on, is the back door locked, is the front door locked etcetera etcetera etcetera.
Testosterone on the other hand, it’s just que sera sera :poke:

About the working distance of the car location, it works anywhere where there is mobile signal to the car and to your phone, and you have a valid connected drive subscription. When you park the car, the car will log its location and when you request it on app, the app sends request to bmw server who will then send the request to car. The car then replies the location via the same route to your app. I tried this and it’s working when the car was in UK and I was in southern China.

One further useful feature is the digital key. After you activate the main digital key, you can remotely send the key to other people (e.g neighbours or friends) with limitations (e.g speed limit, only open the door but not start the car etc.). I found this is useful when I’m away and there is some emergency I want my friend or neighbour to help me handling. Obviously, I need to plan ahead a bit like hiding a key to house in the car before I go away.

For me, after four days I turned the thing off, along with the lane-keeping assist (oh and the warning when above the speed limit). High tech is wasted on me, but I get that it's fun for a while.
I hope you enjoy your new toy Sars, I know it's been a long wait

I’m the opposite. Cruise control that isn’t active is a waste of time for me. Constantly hovering over the brakes or constantly adjusting the speed of it.
With adaptive, it makes motorway cruising a doddle.

It certainly is - the E89 has to be within 1.5km which is really not a lot of use.

Do you have it set to lock/unlock on approach and walking away?
