Know your G29

Tried to use the automatic parking today to reverse into driveway, did something wrong as it was trying to parallel park I think, before I overrode it.

If you put the hood down when it's raining, you get wet. :D
In any car, if I put the heated seats on I get wet, but that may just be an age thing

I think they’re 2 different systems. I’ve not had the bottle to let it reverses into the drive itself between the metal gate posts and to the 1500 litre oil tank

You can say “hey bmw” followed by “tell me a joke” or “introduces yourself “ or “ flirting with me” or anything you want to say and see what will happen.
Well, I tried that in my 1-series.
It replied "Surely you're not bored already? Have you tried Sports Mode".
Luckily I was parked on the drive at the time as I'd probably have crashed!
So zee germans haf a sense of humour!

Ok, so I’ve had a play with this system.
When you put it in reverse it has the option of parallel park or reverse into a bay type space. The options depend on what it detects. I’ve always used the parallel park and it works well! Still scares the hell out of me, but it’s a cool trick when you have a passenger.

Pretty sure I selected the bay, probably just chickened out before it could be properly started.

Not specifically a G29 thing but a feature that I like on the My BMW app is the "locate my car".

I am currently enjoying a week of sunshine in Marbella and have left my car on the drive. My neighbour has the house keys and access to the car keys but I'm pleased to see that the car hasn't moved from the drive

This is so buggy for me. The app will say last updated (for example - 20 mins ago) but will show an incorrect level of fuel or a different location. It will only update after I force a reboot on iDrive

Not exactly a discovery but I do like the feature to set your heated seats to turn on automatically when you get in if the temperature is below a level that you set.

You can program the heated seats and wheel to come on automatically at a set outside temperature.

Do try and keep up.

The best thing about the app is that it not only tells you where the car is, it tells you that it’s locked, so no worrying did I lock the car whilst at a restaurant or cinema and then forgetting where you parked it :headbang:

Does the “locate my car” work over any distance? Also, if the car is unlocked then relocked, will the alarm system reset to on?

If I ever did that I'd probably be in no fit state to drive it.

Some real clever tech. there, but if it can tell where the car is can it show how fast it is travelling? The BIB would love to get access to that. :o

I think it’s just a locator

I hope so Andy - could be embarrassing on your next Scottish Tour otherwise.

"QUOTE" - virtually everything above

No wonder there is a chip shortage with the amount of semi-conductors in these 'new-fangled' cars. :poke:
As for adaptive cruise control; try getting behind a lorry on any motorway and forgetting it's ON. I have wasted many an hour with this technology. :D :poke:

I don’t think I could cope with all this tech, I can barely work out how the central heating control works in the house. Although I quite like the idea of having a car from StarTrek I’d better stick with my old e85 tech instead  LLAP
