Just about had it. Selling my car within this summer

I've just about decided to get rid of my Z4. Noticed that some inconsiderate piece of sh*t side-swiped it, which left scratches and paint marks on the driver's side door.
I was already pissed off for months about another f*cker who left a dent probably after opening their door into my car. Just don't see the point of buying and owning an immaculate car only for careless shitheads to ruin it. *end of rant*

That is terrible mate. You've just had a load of bad luck by the sounds of it :(

I'm going to be investing in a car cover for mine when it's finished... if people cant see what it is then there's less chance of it being keyed or damaged out of jelousy... doesnt stop the bad drivers though.

It is a pisser but wouldn't push me out of german motors . i have a low tolerance level & would rather put up with the odd ding or scratch than even contemplate life with a peugeot or citroen

Just run it. It has lost its pristine condition now. So you don't have to worry anymore

Part of the joy of owning it was having it in pristine condition. If I'm going to have a car that's scratched and dented, I might as well just sell it and buy a cheap run about I don't give a crap about.
Makes me realise that a crappy world we live in, where people don't even care about damaging other people's property.

Its a shame you have let others dictate what you own :(

Yes it's a shame, but I like my car to be scratch-free and dent-free. It stresses me to hell seeing dents and scratches.
If I have to fork out money to get it repaired everytime an idiot damages it, it seems like I'll have to win the lottery to keep up.

Sorry to hear, but honestly, unless you buy a complete PoS you are going to be upset if somebody harms it be it the zed or anything else, that's just the way it is.

How expensive would it be to repair dents and scratches?
One dent I presume is from someone opening their into my rear quarter panel, which left dent/indentation.
I will upload pics later... If i'm going to keep the car, I will have to fix it.

You need to learn the art of parking  don't visit shopping centres , multi storey's or supermarkets & if needed park in the furthest corner possible & if that's not possible look for a space with higher end car parked already in the vain hope they will be careful with their own car door ?

Theres alot to be said to owning a beater, for one it certainly takes away the stress of always worrying about the car, I guess it depends on how much you value owning a nice car and keeping it looking nice and how anal you are about it. Its impossible to stop the unexpected happening but I always try damage limitation when parking, where I leave the car etc and ensure its garaged. Ironically most damage that's happened to my cars in the past has been debris on the road rather than careless or deliberate damage.

If you buy a nice car in future why not buy a really cheap beater as well, insure it 3rd party etc which doubles up as a winter car and keeps your pride n joy for those summer days :)

Will go with that, this is how I tend to park, always an end space at the other end of the car park, I don't mind a little further to walk

It's not so much how expensive would it be, it's would you be happy with the result? That's the dilemma I have with the silly scratch I picked up in a carpark, had prices, but no one will tell me it will be as good as new? Would prefer a scratch than a visible/bad match.

It drives me nuts when i park well out of the way of others only to have some twazzle park next to me. I park at work at an angle at the end of the parking area. Today a part timer pulls up in the space next to me when the car park is empty. Only to open his door, say hello to me, then realises perhaps he's parked a bit close to me, so starts up and moves elsewhere.
I always park on the kiddy parent spaces at the super market. If anyone says anything i'm gunna quote my human right to protect my car, by not parking in a space thats too small.
People are like lemmings, i think they hate to see an untidy car park, by parking next to you.

Then some sod stripes your car 'cos you've taken two spaces and you're miles away from prying eyes!

You can't win with them I'm afraid :x

If you claimed, how would an insurance company deal with this claim? Would it ultimately be classed as your 'fault' because no third party could be found?

I'm interested because there are lots of policies out there that protect your NCD if if the damage is caused by an uninsured driver or by vandalism... but this kinds falls between the cracks. But there is definitely a crime there right? Driving away from the scene of an accident, no matter how small, is illegal.

It would be a fault claim as there is no other party for the insurer to recover their costs from.
