I am truly shocked and disappointed.

I sold a set of winter wheels on another forum. I took loads of pictures for the ad. Buyer phoned me from her garage when they were fitting the wheels saying one has a gash on the sidewall. I spoke to the garage on the phone and paid for a brand new tyre! So didn't really make much on that sale, but reputation on the forum was important as I sold a lot of stuff on there and didn't want to get into an argument.

Checked the pictures later on and it was actually visible. I had genuinely not noticed...and she was genuinely not making it up, so all in all a good result.

Got stung on eBay once...buyer left good feedback saying item was as described etc. A week later he wanted a refund as he said it caught fire (car stereo). Long story short, eBay sided with the buyer, despite me phoning them (and the guy on the phone saying it would be investigated). I cut the tie between my paypal account and bank account, so when they refunded him (without actually taking my info into account) they couldn't then get the money from me...I said no, cos they didn't even tell me they were about to refund him. They dropped it!

Feel for the op, some people are tw@ts. Would be good for the buyer to explain in full, and try to justify this.

in regards to ebay, i've NEVER seen eBay side with a seller, they are theives and greedy ones at that, selling anything these days they take such a big chunk.

What a pain OP. :(

Just another reminder of why I've never used e-bay to sell anything, and don't ever plan to have a paypal account.

Credit card, bank transfer or best of all cash!

They have actually sided with me twice..on the only 2 occasions I have had a dispute funnily enough, I did have plenty of evidence right enough but my experience has only been positive with disputes so far...agree with the ridiculous chunk they take now though, I will only list on £1 max fees days now

i think synth has opened a few eyes including mine, i will in future try not to be a such a james hunt when selling anything on here in the future

Bloody hell :o . I've only just caught up with this as I've just got back from holiday & was travelling all day Tuesday. You've probably noticed I've responded to z4all's wanted ad as I have a pair of said blanks. I wish I'd read this first :headbang: . I bought a nearside splash guard from Simon & paid cash when I collected. He's a top bloke, no need for this & not in the spirit of this forum & its members.
z4all, I've replied to your PM & will hang on to the blanks for now (they would have been FOC). Maybe there's a rational explanation for what is going on here, otherwise it's bad form pal  .

Hi Simon, gutted to read this thread and the hassle you've had with the side vents.
This is such a great forum with some incredibly friendly & helpful members so it's sad when something like this happens.
Hope you get it sorted in your favour
Cheers
Dave

so i've just been told by dave that this thread exists...pretty weird seeing so many judgements being formed when i've not been able to tell my side. usual forum drama though i guess? hence why i dont partake much! it is a total waste of time. will read thru it and provide a brief response. i'm not looking to spend forever responding to each and every objection because it is such a waste of time, but will address the overall situation.

I’ve got an uncle called James Hunt and never realised the slang until now....shame he’s not the sort of person that would appreciate me pointing it out! (But I will to my wife) :D

FOC....wonder how much refund someone could expect from that ?

i will dissect the original post and then respond to anything else of note...here we go! what a waste of time!!

"After sending over 40 items out over the last month I was very disappointed to get an email from PayPal saying someone was making a complaint and was taking action to get a refund."......ok so not mentioning here the PMs i sent explaining i was not happy and also not mentioning that he ignored most of my PMs about this issue! a very balanced approach i see.

"I sold the side vents to a member of the forum for a way below value price of £30 for the pair delivered. They sell for £25 plus each on eBay. "....again, false. first of all, i had no idea they didnt come with blanking plates as i was not advised. secondly, if you go on ebay and look at sold listings, there is one side vent which sold without the blanking plate for £15 inc delivery. so actually he got the right money for what he was selling but he just decided to not make me aware of exactly what was for sale!

"The person who bought then messaged to ask if I have the covers, to which I replied that I may have in my parents garage and would look when I visited. But made it clear that they were not included as shown in the photos. But if I found them I would send them. "....this was all after the sale was done and i received the vents without the blanking plates., so what does it really mean? and how about mentioning how many times i chased you about the plates and you ignored me? and then telling me how busy you are but you have time to respond to ppl who are asking you for prices on parts etc....come on mate.

"I always try and be honest and upfront, and it’s very disappointing to have had someone process a claim. " but you were not upfront and you did ignore several PMs so i was left with no choice. i'm a man of principle. it is not about the money, it is a matter of principle. being 100% honest when selling something is very important.

"I have given parts away FOC, fitted parts for people who have come to my house. Including a window regulator that is a pain to do. I have sent a £300 sensor to a guy so he can check if it fixes his problem before He buys a new one or make a donation for the one I sent. Which I didn’t even take money for postage for. "....nice gestures but irrelevant in this case.

"I hope the member sees this, I will happily send a refund if you return the vents.

If I hear nothing from you and we don’t resolve this I will make public the member."....lol ok....so expecting me to see this for some reason...why would that happen? it would have to be dumb luck. why not PM me saying the thread exists and to respond or whatever? perhaps to cause drama and defame my character? i dont really know. pretty weird though.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

responses to some over member's comments:

"Let me get this straight....someone is making a claim to PayPal for £30 for vents you described and sent but couldn’t find the covers as you mentioned you might not, correct..??

WTF...???? :o ....and £30...are they serious...??"....yep, it is the principle and actually i wasnt going to bother but got pretty pissed off because he kept ignoring me and telling me things like i should have gone thru his whole thread and looked for pics of the vents...why would i do that? how would i know that pics would be there? all i did was PM him to ask a price for vents hoping he had them. he said he did, the deal was done...simple. ive done this a million times with no issue.

"I think op made it quite clear the vents were sold as seen without the covers. The buyer needs to return the vents or drop the claim. We are a happy family on this forum who help each other out as synthed up has done in spades"....how can you make such judgements without hearing both sides of the story?

"I’m going to drop him a PM and ask for the vents to be returned. "...too late for that, gave you enough chances to be honest. i got ignored and pretty much told to do one...

"PP is totally loaded in the buyers favour , i won't use it on principal , just villains masquerading as reputable , as for the situation itself  wtf is wrong with people :( the pics show what was on sale , the witless individual clearly thought he was buying the vents with blanks then had a hissy when he thought he'd been done over  sends my misanthropy off the scale :!:".....slightly presumptuous...you dont even know both sides of the story.

"There is no good reason if the buyer hasn’t contacted the seller before putting in a dispute with PayPal."....i did a few times and finally got pissed off

"For the record this member was the only person not to bank transfer or send as a gift, I should have know he couldn't be trusted."....i dont think u asked for those? i dont really remember tbh but good thing i didnt pay via those methods.

not sure what else to say, i think everything has been addressed. most of what i see on the thread is ppl having a go without actually knowing all the facts.

hopefully we can get this wrapped up soon

Don't get me wrong here, I agree it's bad form, I was just reacting to the lynch mob seemingly forming

thanks mate

thanks mate, and tbh i could add more points to defend my position but i really cannot be bothered. its cut and dry if u just look at facts instead of everyone having a go without actually knowing much abt the reality of the situation. i want this nipped in the bud asap. i dont enjoy forum bullshit like this.

something interesting to note...the seller made it seem like i insisted on paying by paypal goods and svcs method (not friends and family or bank transfer), so that i could scam him later. and a load of you also assumed that and so therefore i planned the scam from the start or something like that?

...i just checked my PMs because i didnt remember anything about bank tfr or which type of paypal pymt it should be and found something VERY interesting...

HBx7pY1.jpg

see how simple and quick the convo was? i asked for paypal details, this is pretty normal! nothing untoward. but im being portrayed as someone who was planning a scam from the start...

My words were not presumptuous at all , you can write all the carefully constructed retorts you like but it comes down to a very simple basic issue that cannot even be debated .
You bought 2 items off a advert both clearly shown in a photograph , anything else that you assume should have been included is irrelevant , simple as that , you then feel like you've been roasted at £25 a pair delivered & pull just about the sneakiest move ever with the PP demand
If there is anyone who views this thread & for a minute thinks you've been wronged then they clearly need a carer for more hours than they currently have them .
Suck it up & get over it , its £25 ffs

i did not see the fkn photos, which part of that do u not get. i just pm'd him directly. i dont need to look thru a massive thread. do u get that?

and no the pp claim was not sneaky, what is sneaky is selling without proper advice of what is being sold. i asked for vents. obviously i assume its a full vent! what is also sneaky is ignoring someone's pms.

again with the 25£, it principle ffs. so ok, let use ur rationale, it is just £25, why is he complaining? why start the thread knowing there would be loads of drama to follow. bullshit rationale. u should be as against his thread as u r abt my PP claim. but ur not...wonder why...

and my responses arent "carefully constructed"...they are just facts, ur trying to imply i'm leaving out facts. i'm not, i'm filling in the blanks.

and yeh im not gnna argue over this for fkn hours btw.

...I had written a response with example of vents for sale for £25-£40, I had included a screen shot of the private message that was sent on Sunday and then deleted by the buyer.

But I feel this will only keep the argument going and I don’t want to waste my evening.

If PayPal side with the buyer then that’s that. I’ll take it as a lesson learnt.

deleted msgs? that was after the pp claim i believe. again misleading, there were other msgs that were ignored.

"I’m not going to prioritise someone moaning over something that was never included when I said I couldn’t find them. "....you didnt actually let me know though, thats the point. and yeh u ignored me after that too.

"What annoyed me is that you went straight to PayPal and never asked to return the vents. I assume as you knew you had a bargain." more assumptions....i am just looking to buy the blanking plates. that is much less hassle for me. i'm not looking to make ur life easy here, u r the one trying it on...so yeh, i did that. nothing to do with ur assumption.

"Not go to PayPal to claim 90% of the sale value." it is just the cost of the blanking plates which seem to be £10 each on ebay. this was explained in the ppl claim in detail with ebay links but again, this is something u failed to let ppl know in this thread.

synthedup said:
This will be my last post on the matter because tbh £25 isn’t worth me spending anymore time on it.

Private message were replied too when I got around to it. I’m not going to prioritise someone moaning over something that was never included when I said I couldn’t find them.

See attached photos, the vents sell for £25 s Without covers. You may get the odd cheaper one but that’s luck,

Also, how can I reply to messages when you delete them? See attached screen shot from Sunday.

What annoyed me is that you went straight to PayPal and never asked to return the vents. I assume as you knew you had a bargain.

If you was really unhappy you would have asked for a refund and asked to return then. Not go to PayPal to claim 90% of the sale value.
