HOW TO; Convert Angel Eyes to BRIGHT LED's

Can these be used as DRLs, or are they not bright enough?

More than bright enough, but the option needs to be coded into the car so that they are on whilst the lights are switched off.

Yes, I know. Coding drls is plain and simple, but whilst I had i coded that way, I had to decode it, as police stated that my drls arent bright enough (stock angel eyes)

any updates? any links for the bulb replacements? Any fitting issues or have they become dimmer over time?

Thanks.

I would like some info on this too.

I have found these, https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/performance/bulbs/listing-2001034260.htm?rsqid=4ae32dd3f26d4f348b066677697a3fe1
but they are a BA9S; is this the correct fitting?

I now have my headlights out to both clean the xenon lenses as well as upgrade the angel eyes. I removed the old bulbs which required a little force but exposed the BA9S fitting.

I have bought these replacements over here in NZ with a focus on maxing the lumens and being canbus free so I don't get any errors. https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/performance/bulbs/listing-2217196317.htm. These are 5w so half of the original 10w filament bulb and should be a truckload brighter!

Delivery is 2 weeks so will post an update once they arrive.

Looking forward to the results!
Just browsing Amazon, these look fairly decent, and I will give these a go:

Are those a 'straight fit'? I had been looking for 433b LEDs with no success, may give these a go :)

I'm hoping so, as they are BA9S?

It seems you're right! I thought only 433Bs would work as I thought it was a completely different bulb, but now that you mentioned "BA9S", I've realised that's the connector type 433Bs use.

They look like the right fit. One thing to note with these is that they have a projector lamp at the top of them. The set up inside the headlight is that the main lens is totally blanked off save the ring around the edge that creates the 'angel eye'. As such, any projection will point directly at the blanking plate. In my headlights, this does not look overly reflective (its blue) so any projected light may not garner its full potential. I would look for a bulb that has surround light rather than projected or focused light if that makes sense? https://www.amazon.co.uk/White-Indicator-T4W-London-Quality/dp/B00C285NZK/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=ba9s+t4w+led+bulb+white&qid=1562713277&s=automotive&sr=1-6

This site gives you an idea of the lumen levels for each LED types - some are quite a bit better than others https://www.saving-star.com/smd-led-comparison/ it may help you decipher which ones will be brighter

I ordered these on Amazon and tried installing them over lunch. My thoughts: they're crap, ,specially for £13! Two of the four bulbs arrived damaged, the LED half spun freely in their sockets, so needless to say they didn't work. The other two seem to work fine and were very straight forward to fit in the housing with no drilling required.

Final results were very disappointing... There's a sort of blue filter inside the housing that makes the colour temperature very chavy. Furthermore, they give bulb errors and for some reason caused my indicators lights to be permanently on, I thought it was the parking light, but even after moving the car for a bit to see if they went off, nope, it still remained on constantly. Very weird.

These are going back to Amazon today.

Indicator stays on when it reads side light out, you'll need to code it out with leds or get a resistor. The blue filter is possibly to try and whiten out the yellow standard bulbs.

I figured. Just didn't like the LEDs enough to code the errors to go away.

A lot more brilliant and no blunders, the Halfords LEDs are not extremity touchy, so work whichever way round. I'll hold up until it's dull and get a few pics..
Thanks.

I have the same blue color problem on mine... If someone got a link for a pure white bulb without blue :P
I also get a blue tinge with my filamented, 20w bulbs. Something tells me that inside the projector there is a light blue plastic filter of some kind... if there was a way of removing it it would make the halos quite a bit brighter straight away. Any volunteers out there??? :D

Yes, there is a blue filter in the assembly. This was taken from another posting:
