Wuflu.....?? I'll go and tell my mum's ashes she was being dramatic...

My grans ashes wouldn't be happy about anyone trivialising the flu either.
Both are pretty serious when your health has declined.

I don't believe the subject of Covid should be banned, it is the single most important thing that has happened to the world in the last 2 years and to one degree or another has affected ALL of us and still is affecting many of us.
Yes this is a car forum but is also the only form of 'social media' that some use, with the advantage of a common interest.
Maybe just shut down the Covid threads started by certain people who only start them to a). try to prove that not being vaccinated makes them more intelligent than the rest of the world or b). to start yet another argument so that they can then try and prove the former.

Superiority complexes are fictitious. They are just more serious inferiority complexes.

Rant over (for now)

So why do it....? :?

People die in all kinds of ways. It doesn't mean you can't joke about it. People get killed in car accidents all the time but we still talk about driving for fun and even joke about the occasional off. Stairs kill lots of old people but it doesn't mean you can't make a joke about falling down them.

This forum section in particular has plenty of Saville jokes but nobody pops up to say "how dare you" because their cousins got touched up.

Oh I agree totally....not nearly enough humour around imho.

My gripe was that it sounds like you're trivialising covid which agree with it or not, is real. I can joke about all day as I hate the pc woke brigade but I can't trivlise it or deny it exists. If that's not what you meant my bad, just reacting to how I read it.

I think you meant 'intransigent nature'. But it's ok, we can forgive poor grammatical errors.
Oh really, that’s very kind of you, though are you sure about my grammar, both are acceptable, though Intransigence is the unwillingness to change one’s view or agree and that seems more appropriate here.

No, I think you will find 'intransigence nature' is definitely not acceptable as good grammar as used by you.

You on the sauce or the wacky baccy tonight then Chris? I like the way you become more belligerent the later it gets (and you are an hour ahead)

I'm simply an arbiter and appreciative of the correct usage of English grammar. Something I find distinctly lacking sometimes in this forum.

Yes and yes then

Belligerent, that’s a fantastic word to describe [ref]Chris_D[/ref],

To be honest I'm starting to get a bit sick of the one-upmanship going on around Covid, particularly on this forum. It seems like on a weekly basis we get yet another Covid topic just designed to wind people up (e.g. this topic title). I am sorely tempted to ban Covid topics at this rate... I have never banned a topic since this forum has been around (2007!), but this may be the first time.

Please please please   :tumbleweed: :tumbleweed:

Why? There has (so far) been no arguments; only Chris D trying to wind everyone up which is par for the course and hasn't worked (again).

This is a Z4 forum at the end of the day and while it's fine to have a "general" area, you have to admit it is getting taken over by a small number of people dick-swinging their Covid opinions around?

Nobody is forced to read it and that includes me. I have no interest in arguing about covid with people that obviously have minority views so generally i don't bother and I skip the threads. This one caught my attention due to the different nature of the title and the fact that the statistics trotted out nightly are meaningless and more useful statistics are withheld.

Anyone who is interested in more meaningful stats should have a look at the Kefalonia Pulse which is an English language website that publishes Greek stats in far greater depth than we get here.

As you say, banning topics is the start of a slippery slope and where next

I really do find it absolutely astounding that people purport to be so wildly upset, annoyed, emotionally and mentally injured by these topics yet time after time they come in and read the comments and reply to them while demanding that they be stopped because they upset them so much. There are many other topics for you to enjoy, go look at watches for example or go add song names to a never ending thread

Not entirely sure if its masochism, elitism or just plain idiocy.

Don't like it, don't read it. (I appreciate that this cant apply to the mods as they are a bit stuck in that regard)

I'm sure that I've posted this already but my wife is a nurse and the staff in her hospital were all told to stick covid down on the death certificate no matter what the reason for death as long as there was a positive test in the previous 29 days.

She had a 94 year old patient with terminal heart disease turn up to die but unfortunately he contracted covid whilst in the hospital so that was another statistic for the books

This was happening in England but not in Wales, I think eventually that was stopped as it was inflating the figures.

The issue is die with Covid or died Due to Covid is where the discrepancy arises.
