Why does this not surprise me. The Freedom Of Information request revelation that 'deaths from COVID alone' (that's death where no other underlying health issues were recorded at the time of death) is *drumroll*....

...... 17,000! *ker-tish*

Not the 170,000 that the fear-mongering BBC and mainstream media would have you believe.

Well done Dr John for bringing this to our attention.

now where are my 7 face-masks that I need to put on to go down the offy and get some beers in for the weekend....

Bit lower than the 500,000 death per day that the scientists predicted. Must have been those face nappies that saved us.

I've not watched the video and am not saying I believe either side of the story, but I do have a distrust of statistics.... As soon as they mentioned underlying issues at the beginning of the pandemic I immediately wondered what constitutes underlying conditions.... obesity, asthma, ingrowing toenail, toothache.... the list was never published and am not sure it even exists.

I'm sure that I've posted this already but my wife is a nurse and the staff in her hospital were all told to stick covid down on the death certificate no matter what the reason for death as long as there was a positive test in the previous 29 days.

She had a 94 year old patient with terminal heart disease turn up to die but unfortunately he contracted covid whilst in the hospital so that was another statistic for the books

To be honest I'm starting to get a bit sick of the one-upmanship going on around Covid, particularly on this forum. It seems like on a weekly basis we get yet another Covid topic just designed to wind people up (e.g. this topic title). I am sorely tempted to ban Covid topics at this rate... I have never banned a topic since this forum has been around (2007!), but this may be the first time.

Several of the bike forums I’m on banned covid topics early on. Did make them a better place to visit imo.

I saves having to have a post mortem or an inquest if Covid is on the death Cert. A lot of people have challenged Covid being on as the cause of death with a coroner and had it removed

[ref=#105289]sp3ctre[/ref], - perhaps you could keep all the mad frogs in a single box
- Create a 'Covid' sub-forum
- People have to request access
- All Covid threads must be in that area, any posted anywhere else get terminated with malice

Denial is the most lascivious form of subservience.

I did think about that but not sure there is actually much value in the discussion at all to be honest... and what happens with future topics... Brexit, General Election, Global Warming etc... it could get messy.

Meaning what? This is a Z4 forum at the end of the day and while it's fine to have a "general" area, you have to admit it is getting taken over by a small number of people dick-swinging their Covid opinions around?

Well said, I don’t like the idea of limiting speech on here, but I am getting tired with the intransigence nature of some on here

I'd prefer to think that it's relaying fact from a credible source rather than opinionating.

This is the miscellaneous forum. If it's not for sharing recycled facebook memes and talking about what's in the news then what else is it for?

Currently the big topics on the media rotation are covids, bojo, paedo royalty and the weather.
If Russia invades Ukraine tomorrow or Jeremy Corbyn is spotted having a steamy moment with Diane Abbot in a taxi then I'm sure new topics will take over but for now ypu've got to suffer petty chatter about the wuflu.

I think you meant 'intransigent nature'. But it's ok, we can forgive poor grammatical errors.

Wow, you must have been saving that one for such a long time?
Congratulations and well done on the occasion when you can finally use it!
