The solution;
Well I could modify the code so the second and third presses have to occur ten seconds after the first press but what's the point in doing that, you may as well put the key into the lock and hold it to raise thee roof.
So I suggest the sequence of key presses to raise the roof should be two presses of the unlock followed by 1 press of the lock button each 1 second apart. Obviously I'll have to change the code but I think it's a good solution.
All other suggestions are welcome.

Sounds like a good solution to me! 8)

What about a single 2-3s hold of the lock button, similar to the OTH but using the keyfob ..

Also connect it to the rain sensor so if the car is parked, (no keys in) and it starts raining, the roof goes up....

I have to agree this seems like a great solution. Still only 3 simple button presses.

I would be happy with this solution.

Wouldn't that lock the car again? making you have to press unlock again, and potentially stopping the roof opening?

I like the idea of holding the button for 2-3 seconds. Couldn't you just leave it as is and add a second option for those with alarms?

Hi guys.
I'm looking into the double click and the alarm issue now, I don't think my Z4 has it.
Does anyone know if there's any feedback that lets yo know when you've disabled the tilt?
Also, is there a time window in which you have to have pressed the second click for it to count?
So the posible issue is deactivating the alarm tilt and interior motion sensor when you press the remote three times to lower the hood?
When the hood is lowered do you require the interior motion sensor taking into account a big hole now exists in the interior? Granted the tilt is disabled but the main issue is some plonker opening the doors and trying to gain access.
If you dont want to lower the hood; one click to open and close the car should enable/disable the alarm and allow/stop entry?
So possibly we are looking just the tilt disable as an issue?
Any thoughts?

AAAH! Raising the roof is the issue!! Should have read the whole thread before replying!!
The solution however seems to have presented itself though.
So unlocking remains the same; that is three presses of the unlock button and to raise 2 presses of the unlock followeed by one press of the lock?
Simple dimples!

Thsoe are both great ideas :happyclap:

Doing a (slightly) prolonged hold sounds much better then doing a sequence ot presses.

I vote for a single long press.
+1

My only concern if it was 1 long press to open is if I sat on my keys and the roof went down at home without me knowing but roof going up no probs!

Just make sure you get up and down a few times so the roof opens and closes each time :)

Not sure how you manage to sit on your keys though :)

I some times keep my keys in my back pocket.... and even when i sit on them its actually quite hard to sit on them and deptress any buttons as both the open and boot release are flush fitting...

That being said... once someone bumped a suitcase into my leg.. and my keys were in my front jeans pocket with my phone and somehow it unlocked my car

 Maybe that came out wrong! I always keep my keys in my pocket and sometimes when I go out to my car the boot is unlocked. Must be where my keys get trapped between my jeans and my leg

Nope, still the 3 clicks to open, but 1 hold to close.

I think it should remain multiple clicks to close, removes the risk of it clashing with the existing hold to raise that some people have enabled.

yes, but like the one touch, which overrides the need to hold the dash buttons throughout the cycle, this also means you don't have to hold the keyfob during the whole cycle, just for a short period and then you let go.
