After a tough year, lost my wife in November aged 46. I need something to keep me busy.
Bought a 1984 Astra gte. Been looking for one for the last 3/4 years without success. Only 9 left on the road. Some others sorned. Now the time was right & I tracked one down. Needs tidying but motd till end of march. Booked in for mot on Tuesday to see what it's really like, fingers crossed.

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x4hj6g9 Good thing about older cars is that you can work on them yourself and get injured. Good luck but that 924 looks tempting :D

Tragic news that Gordon , my second car was the Kadett SR version in white & was over the moon at having my first pair of Recaro seats at 19yrs old :driving: was a white one just like this

does this mean you are no longer looking for a M roady

Cheers Andy. No still on the look out for M roady  I had Vauxhalls when I was a boy, had them all nova sr manta gte,Astra sri & cavalier gsi. Always wanted a mk1 gte.
Got plans drawn up & submitted for planning. Got enough room to fit m4,gte & a other in hopefully. Might even get the RR in all going well. :D looking for imola preferably but not in a rush due to garage still not built.

Sad news. Hope the car brings you joy. My 3rd car was a red GTE, I loved it. Also had a mk2 16v with the digital dash which was a brilliant gimmick and went very well (but only in a straight line).

so very sorry to hear about your wife..that is no age to go, I hope the car can help keep your mind occupied and maybe bring a little happiness

Sorry for your loss.

I had a mk1 SR 1.6 as my first car, a poor version of the GTE. Lovely looking car and different to all the Escort XR3i's that was around at the time.

I remember lots of conversions to put the 2 litre engine from the mk2 GTE.

Is the rear spoiler an add on? Thought they only had a roof spoiler although I could be wrong.

So sorry to hear your sad news and far to young.
I was only reading about the Astra GTE recently and how few there are left on the road now. They did one on car SOS which needed lots of welding, yours looks very clean.

It's totally standard & looks not to bad at 1st glance. The rear spoiler is a irmscher one & i'am not a fan. Will probably remove when I paint it next year. They came with no spoiler from the factory. It's perfectly usable ATM.

That's awful news - so sorry fella :(

I had the Astra GTE 16v - loved it, fast in a straight line (corners forget it  )

Sorry to hear your recent woes fella, chin up.
Had a ride home from school in an equivalent to Marlon's GTE some 25 years ago, weaving in and out of urban traffic, glad I survived that to be honest!
