Is anything safe with you Nigel....you shatter your leg, you shatter that car...no point going for a pint with you I'd never receive the bloody glass... :withstupid:

Sorry to hear of your loss OP.

Your Astra looks good. I don't remember seeing that colour back in the day - it must be pretty rare.

I never had a fast Vauxhall - back in the 80s I was a Ford fan (so I could have RWD). So my MKII RS2000 was followed by 2 Capri Injections!

Hope the MOT goes well.

I'm shocked to read your sad news Gordon, thought it was going to work out well.
From Mandy and myself, our thoughts are with you........46 is simply not fair in the grand scheme of things but having met you and got an insight into your character I'm sure you have a lot of support from friends, family, etc and loads of happy times & memories to help you through any tough times.

Ar well funny you should say that but I'm laid up again for a few more weeks at the moment.
Fell off the mountain bike end of November and popped my AC joint in my shoulder.
Had it operated on two weeks ago and now at the recovery stage :headbang: so couldn't carry your pint at the moment

Cheers mate. You get well too pal.
I do seem to have a bit of steel in my body now lol.

Well good news auld girl passed mot. Windscreen wiper blade & rear brake cylinder. Not bad for 33years old.

Not bad indeed! Same age as me and probably in better condition! I grew up on mk2 XR2s, as frail as they were I loved my second one (used 2 to make one good one) something about late 80s-early 90s sporty hatches/coupes, the first generation of cars with that all round body kit and arches.
Condolences for your loss. Hope you enjoy the car.

Good news and shows how well it's been looked after, should be a good show car for this summer, hope there are some good car shows in your area.

Sorry to hear your news, my sincere condolences.

One should never complain about getting old, it's an opportunity that a lot of people don't get.

Sat looking at this parked by the table where we passed the bulk of the afternoon before heading to airport in Porto yesterday......Opal Kadett 1.3 SR.
Hope life is good with you

Wow.......

sometimes other peoples s**t makes you look at your own s**t and feel bad for moping around, heres me feeling sorry for myself when my relationship broke down recently.... OP.... I'm sorry man. really sorry. what age is that really??? jeeeezzzzzzz....... life deals out some tough cards at times. Respect man, keep going, keep concentrating on you, keep growing as a person. I love those retro hot hatches and always loved the little R5 GTT... so totally understand the desire here!

Tragic mate very sorry.

I liked the Mk1 Astra and had a lot of fun with what was probably the best mid-sized boggo FWD chassis of the era, very chuckable in basic spec with lots of feedback having no PAS and skinny tyres :)

I'm guessing you have seen the MK1 GTE episode of Car SOS but if not it's worth a look, it seems trim is the hardest thing to find!

Wee update on the Gte Car wasn't perfect paintwork wise so decided to get it painted. Currently in body shop getting painted & tidied up. Parts are a problem. Can't really get anything for them apart from EBay. Don't really need anything as it's complete. 2 brand new headlights purchased to freshen up front end. Hopefully have the Astra back end of June.
Purchased a other retro car, wife would kill me but she knew what I was like. Bmw e30 325sport. Spotless had a full nut & bolt restoration 18 months ago. Bonus is you can still buy everything from bmw.1F7C29C2-1E4E-4AEA-8697-F7BC7435EEE5_zpsefhnxen7.jpgD9D245B9-9179-4D45-9828-A8F94F13DA04_zpsdf5ppaua.pngDC7CA4DA-BDBA-49C9-8B3F-A9553B75980C_zps5nryr5rg.png
