I had a m240i for a day last week just because I could, and great a car as that is, it's too bumpy even in comfort and I couldn't wait to get back in the Handschalter. It's so much more than just an optional manual gearbox.
There’s a guy in our little Porsche Cayman/Boxster group with a Cayman GT4… always at the back, always pootling along. Pointless, never going near a track in it and says it’s too powerful so needs to drive slow to keep it on the road :?
In fact there’s a few in our Porsche group who seem to just want to go to organised static car meets; Never want to join the few of us that get out early to drive when the roads are quiet, …for the enjoyment of driving. A lot of these cars are weekend cars too - so what’s the point of putting that much wedge into a sports car, just to park it up and hope others look at it :headbang:
I don’t do many miles in my Alpina, but the miles I do are generally what it was built for. Driving the Porsche a bit more but, again, in a way that makes the most of it.
