Farewell Z4 - My E85's journey!

Well sadly today is the day that I part with my Z4 which i have had for 5 years now - by far the longest car i have ever owned :(

We've had some good times together... but as I have a car allowance my car has to be under 7 years.

So a trip down memory lane with a couple of my favour pics....

When i first got her:

The following weekend this happened:

Luckily within a few weeks the sun came out.. and my first mods... some carbon badges:

And some interior bling:

After BMW kindly replaced my corroded 108's for free i decided to take them off for good!

Then disaster struck... my first of 4 parking damage... the first by far the worse when some clown left my car like this with a near empty car park:

I saw is as an opportunity and got Aero skirts.. and swapped the front and rear bumpers to the M ones and lowered it...

And its winter prep:

And it even made a guest appearance on my wedding day (Sadly the bow fell off somewhere along the A38!):

And i have made some great friends along the way:

The 2011 Welsh Run:

And the last 4 weekends i have had too undo all i had done in the past 5 years!

I would like to thank everyone here - it really is a great community here.. and i have made some great friends... i dont plan to go anytime soon... but as with these things.. as i no longer own a Z4 will inevitably spend less time here as time goes on!

Nice write up its a shame your having to sell. I hope you stick around and maybe when we organize the z4 TT meet i will see you there.

Nice car in front of you on the Windsor meet :D

I know what you mean, once you sell the car, you don't visit the forum that much anymore

I've never seen many photos of your car aquazi but it's a stunner. Love the interior and the mods you made!

A shame indeed but times move on!

Nice recollections , I hate goodbyes :(
Why does your firm have a 7 year cut off for employees cars?

Quite common, if the employer pays the employee towards the use of the car, they want to make sure the employee actually arrives at the customer site and the assumption is that after 7 years the car is unreliable for that purpose.

Excellent post,

Good luck with the new Car

Car looked great lowered btw, did what springs did you use? Any problems with day to day driving?

Did you manage to sell all the bumpers and stuff?

Ash

It looks like you had a great 7 years with the Z

I'm loving the Aero Skirts I got from you :D :D :D

Cheers mate

Thanks chaps... Will be sorry to see it go.... as PVR said basically a lot of companies make the (poor) assumption that after 7 years cars are too unreliable.. so if you take their allowance for a car they want you to actually have a reliable car!

Well i was meant to set off and leave at 2pm to Lincoln to drop the car off and pick up my new Audi.. sadly we now have an inch of snow on my road.. and it is still snowing and with the standard runflats i aint going anywhere!

So if the weather clears up tomorrow will pick it up then.... so i get to keep the Z for another day maybe!

Indeed, Bing looks a little older there :P

Great job you did with the Zed and a damn shame you had to part with it, luck with new set of wheels. Cheers Baz

You're such a cock :P

Great post Aquazi, and a fantastic journey... Shame a 35is wasn't on the cards

Looking forward to posting pics of my footwell looking just like yours when I find some time to get the pedals fitted

Nice write up, it's a shame i never got to see the car in the flesh as it always looked great on the pics. I would have thought someone would have loved that car the way it was rather than undoing all the work you did on it!? :?
The VMR's are one of my favorite wheels (and Ink$ too i think!)
