Well i was meant to set off and leave at 2pm to Lincoln to drop the car off and pick up my new Audi.. sadly we now have an inch of snow on my road.. and it is still snowing and with the standard runflats i aint going anywhere!

So if the weather clears up tomorrow will pick it up then....
Can you share some pictures of the new motor when you get it please.

Gutted the weather scuppered things for you.

Great write up, sorry to see you parting with it, but guess the day comes to us all at some point
Best of luck with the new car when you get it.

Quite interesting to see the change from a fairly plain Z to something special

Well a bit of an update... I chanced the snow and made the 1.5 hour drive to Audi Lincoln... And disappointment doesnt cut it...

I was expecting the TT to be in the garage and covered... As all previous dealer cars i had bought were like this... But it was outside in the snow... Not the end of the world but would have been nice to see it under showroom light not fading evening light.

Agreed to take the minimal £7.5k finance to get 2 years free servicing... Questioned the finance man on the details (as he had skimmed through them initially with no t/c) he then mentioned that there was a £160 agreement fee... Which was not disclosed initially... I said my bank doesnt charge that... His reply is it will take 2 hours to redo the paper work if this has to be adjusted and he has other customers to see!! Said he will throw in a full tank of petrol... So i agree to that (as i we had to be somewhere at 7pm and were running out of time) thought i would just call up and cancel within 14 days and keep my free petrol.

And finally the icing on the cake... The sales guy goes to get the tank of petrol... Came back in 10 mins and said he has to speak to his manager (i thought maybe to approve the petrol) then he pops back out and mentions the dash has come up with a light bulb warning and one of the Xenon bulbs is out!! No technician to fix it so i had two options... Drive it as it is and get my local dealer to look at it - which through unlit country lanes covered in snow wasnt acceptable... or drive my Z4 back home and they will take a look at it and get it delivered to me. Mentioned my insurance is up on my Z4 this sunday... So he checks if they have a spare car available... Which there isnt any.

So running out of time... I drive my Z4 back.... A little disappointed after spending £24k and have the same car! And also realise there is only enough petrol to do 20 miles... And the drive home was 50 miles!!

I have had 3 bmw's in the past... And the quality of customer service from them has been flawless... Audi in particular this jct600 dealer are appalling

Maybe fate is trying to tell you something :D

Good luck anyway with the new motor

I looked into that finance deal with a fine tooth comb when I bought my Audi few months back, and the following is the deal:

- Yes, there is a "acceptance" fee, mine was £130 though.
- There is also a settlement fee of a similar amount.
- I had to run it for 3 months to get the two years free servicing and additional year free warranty + £1k Audi contribution

My dealer also did the same, i.e. the car was in the rain when I collected it. They are not BMW dealers, that is for sure.

The wife said the exact same thing.... As we now need something family friendly... Which between the tt and her slk we are lacking!

Luckily the wife was on hand (barclays manager) so grilled the finance man... Who was pretty nervous answering any sort of question....

My agreement fee was £160, but no settlement fee... But i need to pay a minimum of 6 payments.... I had already decided to cancel it within 14 days as i didnt trust them at all (non disclosure of t and c's, said 9 payments then 6 etc) the wife said the way he was skimming through it all is a breach of the fsa... But i get my free tank of fuel so i was happy!!

That's very poor service, they seem to think their doing you a favour.
The drive from Derby to Lincoln in a Z4 in the snow wouldn't be a pleasant experience :P

Sorry to hear about your troubles, this is how I picked up my audi tt from Birmingham Audi

I was pretty fun going there as i had the car saying 120miles range for a 50 mile trip... So a little over zealous on the right foot to try and use it up.....

Sadly that came and bit me back when i had to drive the car back on the fuel left :headbang:

Yeah thats what i was expected too! Thats how my Z4 was in sytners and both my 1 and 3 series company cars.

I got there at 4.30 so hardly any light to inspect it... And the car was wet (but least it was beading) as it had been snowed on!

Appalling really... Considering my 1 series was only £17k and i got flowers and champagne and an indoor cover.... Treated like royalty! Over here it was a handshake (to be fair the wife got flowers) and thanks!

Seems like TT members recon i should get some compensation for it all... Tough one really... As if they deliver it in one piece tomorrow i'd be happy(ier). The wife on the other hand was royally annoyed as she left work early to go... To be greeted with a wet broken car!
