A fond farewell

After four years of Z4 ownership, my time driving an 09 sapphire black E86 has finally come to an end.

During my time on the forum, I benefited greatly from all the posters here. The site really is a wealth of information about these amazing cars, which I think are hugely underrated, as an affordable sports car. The straight six is just so smooth and pleasing.

Though I'm not mechanically minded myself, reading about others peoples projects was fascinating, and proved helpful, as I then had a better idea of what would be involved when my own car needed work. Should anyone on here ultimately end up with her, she should make a good project car, as everything was still entirely stock.

On the first day out in my new car, I happened to pass an 09 coupé on the bypass, which was a bittersweet moment for sure. During the time I've owned the Z4, I have only seen around 5 coupés, and never another 09 plate before.
The only thing I could do to console myself was to mash the throttle, and listen to the V8 growl.

I will still drop by the forum from time to time, it's become a habit reading it every week for years.
Adios Amigos :driving:

V8 growl? There needs to be a photo of the replacement before you disappear. thumbsup:

OK, here it is, Lexus RCF, 5.0 V8 :driving:

Looks awesome but can you coax it past a petrol station without stopping?😉

Fortunately the fuel tank is massive, so yes.
The massive tank is a double-edged sword when it's time to fill up

I bet it’s great fun but how many gallons to the mile does it do?

Lol, I hope it will be the other way around, and do at least several miles to the gallon
So far I'm not sure on the mpg, it will be crap, but then again I didn't buy it for the fuel economy.

As N/A V8's go, on paper at least it looks better than a Mustang, Maserati, Aston, or even an XKR (supercharged). The engine can run Atkinson cycle, but I do not know how much fuel this will save in reality. Every millilitre will be gratefully received however

I had the GSF for about 2 years. Lovely engine and if your steady it will do 24 MPG, so I'm told!

That is a bold colour, it’s solar flare?
Did yours scare small animals and children on a cold start too?

That's very nice! It's one of the very few Lexus's that I actually like and with a proper engine! Looks stunning in black with the orange callipers.

Shame that you are leaving, but it looks like you've got a good reason.

Enjoy your Lexus and drop by here from time to time!

Having done some maths, around town it works out at 17-18 mpg & on a longer run 26. Steady on the M'way is slightly more.

I don’t think that’s too bad for such a big engine. My 3.5 is isn’t that much better.
