DISABLE THE SEAT BELT ALARM

There's a factory fitted mechanical disabling device. Just plug it in and not only will the annoying alarm stop, but you're also protected when some moron crashes into you.

You might try putting on your seat belt. That has been known to silence the alarm. :poke:

i would of thought its more to do with the fact that its really sensitive, i can put a carton of milk on the passenger seat and it will set the alarm off, i can be a pain sometimes!

Easier to wear the belt, no? I sit my computer bag down in the passenger foot well or in the trunk/boot. No seatbelt alarm and if you have to get on the brakes, your stuff doesn't go flying.

there is another thread on this somewhere..........

If the warning starts going off just pull your hand brake up a fraction then put it back down and the alarm will be canceled.

interesting Greeno, as I did read that somewhere else, but from some guy that had only 2 replies on forums so I wanted to hear it again before I pulled that maneuver. Thanks!

I would find it hard to explain to a police office why I was safely strapping my carton of milk, or other inanimate object in with the passenger side seat belt. I expect drug driving tests would follow.

I use the boot.

I normally leave the passenger belt hooked up. As the zed seat belt design ends up with the shoulder buckle always coming to rest against the plastic around the door and rattling.

+1 - do this all the time

yea so the 'other thread' you people are referring to is for the Z4, but does not work for the M Roadster.. Pulling up the handbrake does not silence the alarm. Does anyone have a real answer??

and then there was "There's a factory fitted mechanical disabling device. Just plug it in and not only will the annoying alarm stop, but you're also protected when some moron crashes into you." What is this device called and exactly where does it get plugged into? The seatbelt portion itself? the dealership says they've never heard of such a thing.

In other words just connect the seatbelt.... :)

What that means is you WEAR your seatbelt and put your stuff in back or in the floor of the passenger side.

I dont carry anything around... I wasn't looking for storage responses. I am particularly looking to disable the alarm for purposes of driving through 20-story parking garages and such. "Wear your seatbelt" is not even a proper response to this thread.

In what way is this not appropriate? Car is in motion is it not? If the car is in motion, wear your seatbelt!

can't be done easily,
one purpose of this safety reminder is that it's also designed to 'annoy' drivers who think the risk of driving without a seatbelt won't apply to them,
If I just turn the car round outside the house and it starts beeping, I put the belt back on
So just put your seatbelt on.... I don't understand why doing that is such a big deal
