Disable passenger seat seatbelt warning

Hi

I absolutely never let anyone travel in my car without their seatbelt, so I don't need the warning system.

I would really like to disable this system because I often like to put bags and things on the passenger seat, and the system is so sensitive it often mistakes them for a passenger and it howls at me! I then have to push them off the seat onto the floor which is extremely inconvenient (it is my everyday car that I use for work, visiting clients with the stuff I need).

My partner's contemporary E46 seems to have had its warning system disabled. (All that happens is that a dashboard light comes on and then goes out again - it does not care about whether there is a passenger with or without a seat belt).

Any ideas if this can be done? Is there a plug I can pull out to disconnect the passenger seat's weight sensor?

Regards
Alistair

You should be able to insert your key and turn it to disable the passenger airbag (may be on the other side for RHD vehicles?)

You can do two things - either pull on the handbrake then take it off again, this confuses the sensor and shuts it up (doesn't work on all models though), or just plug in the seatbelt, this is what I used to do.

The handbrake trick worked on my previous 2003 Z4 but won't work on my 2006si. So when I have something on the passenger seat I just plug in the seatbelt.
