Clear light and Angel Eye Conversion - The Project and Story

Happy to report that with the latest monsoons that have fallen... Not a drop of condensation or water in the lights

Any ideas what's best to clean the inside of my headlight lenses before I bond them back up. I've tried solvol and wd40 and alcohol wipes...everything I've got but its just getting worse...any ideas anyone? Seems to have gone foggy :(

Cheers both. It seemed that everything I tried (in desperation) made it worse. Ill try those two. If all else fails I've still got the original lights on the car to cut open :(

I seem to have created swirl marks...from the solvol autosol  Is it a case of keep going and it will get better (maybe they are laquered on the inside and Ive cut through that) or do you reckon theyre F***ed :o

Well I think you've scratched them with abrasive cleaners. I only ever used window glass cleaner and very soft cloths. I do not believe fhere are any coatings.

To fix it I would use plastic polish like Meguiars and finish with glass cleaner.

They'll come back, but a lot if elbow grease.

Cheers Phil. I daren't seal them up as they are as it would bug me every time I looked at them. Ill give the meguiars a try. I thought the solvol was fairly mild but oh my was I wrong :o

Well thanks to CJ10 my lens are sparkling again. Bought the Meguiars headlight restoration kit from Halfords (19.99), used as instructed and hey presto it really does work brilliantly. Obviously I've used it both inside and out as the lens is off the light but I would recommend this to anyone with dull lights

Result :)

Can I suggest before you reassemble the units you blow them out of any dust and clean fingerprints with glass cleaner. If you have silver inners be ultra careful as they mark and are then scrap. The slightest spec of dirt will in time end up on view and finger prints be highly visible.

Thanks Phil. Black inners on mine which seem hard to get perfect. It's that dilemma of when to be satisfied enough to close up....wouldn't make a good surgeon

I've had a look on the site for the led rings and diffusers. There appears to be 2 or 3 options on led rings. Which ones have people been buying? I know I need 80mm rings but which type?

After being informed that the led rings recommended on here end up costing around £90 with postage and import duty surely there must be a cheaper alternative? I've just found these on ebay which seem to be worth a punt?

I mean they cost £33 including delivery from a uk seller.
Does anyone know if they'd be any good? There are 70 pages on this thread so I don't know whats been previously discussed but I'm wondering whether I should give them a go. Just need to find some diffusers.
