Cheapest Insurance thread (UK)

Yes it isn't a problem, they can afford to repair or replace and it is something stylish for them to swan about in when we go on holiday (and they look after the cat). As it is they drive it third party. A few quid so they don't have to worry about breakages would have been well spent.

:)

Alpina Roadster - cheapest was £740 with Esure, with £1k excess. Having my mum on it as named saved me c.£100-200.

Only two others came under £1,000.

My swiftcover renewal just come through £42 DOWN I repeat DOWN in last year. £360. 11 years NCB and turned 40 in March, perhaps it's the age!!

Tapatalking on my iPhone.......

Just stuck mine on a multi car with Admiral.

I'm currently with Bell (which is part of Admiral) for my daily beater which is a 12 year old Honda HRV. Called them and told them I wanted to add the Z4 to my policy but they told me that wasn't possible unless I used Admiral for a multi car policy. They also said my no claims would only be on the Honda until I told them I'd heard of no claims mirroring.

In the end it cost £360 for the Z and £260 come renewal time for the HRV both full comp for the wife and I. That was £300 cheaper than the quote I got direct from Admiral.

When I checked single car quotes Swift cover came up cheapest at £280 for the Z alone.

Your getting a good deal. I do all the comparison site searching each year, check cashback sites and also go to some independant brokers inc classic car brokers - even so, £800 was the cheapest I could get.

Fantastic price for your age! How much NCB do you have and who are you covered with?

4yrs NCB, I had an accident 5 years ago.

Insured with Bell. I normally play insurers off against each other and negotiate down pretty well but didn't have time this year as I rushed to sort it before going on holiday (away over renewal date). I reckon I coulda knocked down a little further.

I live in a fairly nice part of Cheltenham which probably helps, but with 12k miles per year etc. nothing else to really knock it down.

I need to look at my excesses I think... I always keep mine at £250 if I can - perhaps I should up it to £400-500 ?

Not Z4 related, but when I got my Z last year I had to put it on the policy we had for our Honda, and then got raped on a new policy for the Honda - came in at £1,200 :o The Z cost me about £690 when I renewed this year. Anyway, got a renewal letter for the Honda today from Direct Line and it as come in at £721 - WTF is that all about then ? Bit of a result, and if I wasn't such a tight git I wouldn't even look anywhere else !
