Cheapest Insurance thread (UK)

Advice please, had my renewal from Saga £464.26 up £8 from last year. Didnt seem too bad until I got other quotes, Privilege £170 and Churchill £178. Just seems too good to be true, any experience on here with those two companies.

A saving of £300 is just fantastic, there were 28 companies cheaper than Saga!

Saga seem to be doing this recently! Theyve just stitched me up with my house insurance this year. They tried with my travel insurance as well.
They have most of my insurance ......for now!

I bought my Z4 in March this year. It is a 2.2l 53 plate, no modifications.

I was 19 at the time.

I managed to negotiate a deal with Admiral, but I had to keep my 1L '02 plate Corsa until May 1st (expiry of Corsa policy) to obtain my 2nd years NCB, whilst paying £1200 for 12 months on the BMW. I then had to pay an additional £200 for the Z4, once I sold my Corsa (Coincidentally, on the 1st of May).

Renewal is up in March... I'm a bit apprehensive about the price!

im 27 with 5 yrs ncd and still my insurance is stupid! my renewal is due in Jan and im getting quotes of £830! wtf im almost 30!

Just been quoted £420 by esure for my 2.5i Roadster. I'm 31, 5 years NCB (actually it should be about 8 or 9 but stitched up by Aviva who don't let you earn more than 5), and living in SE London, residential secure car park overnight. Low mileage and social use only (4000/year) which probably helps. Seems reasonable to me - big improvement on last year when I was struggling to get covered for less than £650. Putting my dad on as a named driver knocked £50 off... go figure.

@nfarmer - if you're of Saga age (presumably over 50) there's no way you should be paying that much, both companies you mentioned are perfectly reputable. Switch pronto!!

:D there are some advantages to being an old duffer, esure £195 fully comp, class 1 business use, £250 excess, parked on the drive in Dorset, I must admit a fair few came out under £200 :driving:

I reckon that we have to be careful not to judge insurance only on the price of the premium.

Fair comment but providing you have the cover you want there is little to choose by way of service and good/bad reviews for most insurers. The majority of companies found on the big comparison sites all seem to use BISL as their customer service hub, many use the same claims handling companies and tied repair shops as well, so except for one or two (outrageously expensive) outfits is there really anything to choose between them?

I've just got a quote via Meerkat with Autonet who are offering Fully comp,SDP & commute, 6k miles, £350 XS, protected NCB, glass cover, loan car at for
Somerset based couple (50s) 10 yrs NCB, garaged, low risk occupations £124
Autonet are UK based, Lloyds backed and use all the same call centres as the rest.
....and I get a free Meerkat which will please someone

BTW Meerkat was cheaper for the same cover and companies than GoCompare, Confused or MoneySupermarket.

It's worth a carefull check when buying from the comp web sites that you have FULL euro cover should you be taking it abroad. Some of the lowest price policies only covered the min requurements of the country.

Insurance is a funny thing. Privilege send a renew letter saying that its gonna cost £948. Same company online using gocompare £649. Go figure

Hey guys,

I just got a new policy with Chris Knott Insurance, very happy with the outcome and the customer service received. I dealt with a chap named Paul, and he managed to beat all price comparison sites and my renewal quote from Adrian Flux.

I'm a 27 year old male, 6 years ncb, car kept on driveway at night, all in for £387.

Just wanted to share my positive experience with you, highly recommend them.

Cheers,
Luke

Just looking into quotes now, I'm 27 and soon to be an owner of a 2006 3.0si. Kept on the driveway and will be a second car. For me as named driver and my gf as a second named driver, me with 9 years NCB and her with 8 years, I've been quoted £261.90 with esure. Went through moneysupermarket.com and they came back the cheapest. :D

Ok so just to throw my 2 pence in... I'm 23 years old my home is Bromley br1, I have a car theft claim in the last 5 years as well as a sp30 in the last 5 years, I choose to say about 12k per year, garaged, locked work carpark, working as a civil engineer , erm what else? Fully comp 2 years nbc and my best quote for my 3.0 coupe 07 was 987.92 ? I think that's quite good for me? My focus was 250£ to renew with I sure the box but now I've switched to elephant

Just insured Z4M for £210

Fully comp with protected no claims, me and missus

Esure with £250 excess ..9 yrs NCD and no points or claims
