They are thieves, or chancers is probably a better term...

Just had to renew my insurance today, I've been with Adrian Flux for almost 9 years since I owned my Corrado VR6, I'm now 33 (34 in a month), 8 years NCB (9 in a month), etc etc

The policy went up from £550 to £650 this year so I tip tap into Confused.com and find cover from RSA (???) for £490, I ring up Adrian Flux and have some to and fro with them about "I've been with you for 9 years, my NCB has obviously gone up, etc etc". I get put me on hold for 5 minutes and when they come back they can suddenly do it for £485 with installment payments and all the trimmings that the RSA cover wasn't including.

I'm happy with £485 as the cover etc is excellent (Legal, Breakdown, Courtesy car etc), but they do try it on.

30 years old, 61 plate 23i Highline. £930 with Admiral, £250 excess. 4y no claims. Kept on drive, it actually went up £250 if I said garage! Put my mum on as a named driver too which had knocked £300 off.
Elephant were about the same price.

Just had in interesting conversation with Chris Knott insurance.

Apparently their underwriters "haven't had much luck with high performance rwd cars".
Disappointing, as iirc cars don't yet drive themselves into walls.

My quote was £800+ 37yo, avg postcode, full ncb, no points, no claims.

May the insurance shopping continue....

Last year £534...renewal name through at £568 (Admiral)

Got this years for £422 (Elephant) :D

2007 (07) ///M coupe
40 yr Male
Berkshire post code
Driveway
5000 miles pa social, domestic, to single place of work.
23 years no claims (Don't let some companies tell you 9yrs is the max...it makes a difference)
Protected no claims
Wife named driver (16+yrs driving, no claims/convictions)
Excess £350
Fully Comp

6 points (both SP30's)......woulda been £335 without these (doh!)

£422 @ Elephant ///M coupe

Managed to get £900 from Admiral.
36yrs old full no claims, no points. kept on drive. Got my partner on there as well and shes got her car on the multicar as well. £1290 for mine and her car all in.
Fully comp, protected no claims.

Oddly enough I was originally quoted 1580 from Admiral as they couldn't find the new 4pot Turbo. I searched on confused and couldnt find it. Searched on the autotrader site and got another price from Admiral.

I also had a renewal come through for my old Z4.

So on phoning Admiral I got a new high price. On searching different places I found new best prices, with Admiral, coming in at something like 930.
Phoned Admiral and asked what was going on and managed to reduce the price for both our cars.

At this point I had a renewal on the old Z4 come through, the updated renewal with a massively high price from Admiral, and then another renewal come in for both cars at 1380.

At this point Elephant phoned up, from the details left on confused and autotrader, and said they could do a better deal. They got it to the 1290 for both cars, but this was on Multicar discount... through Admiral (as they are sister companies.)

Wasnt complaining but just thought it amusing at getting so many wildly different quotes from one company.

Have premiums suddenly shot up again? Did a quote over a full year on my new Z4 a month or so back and the best price was £458 with Swift (who i am with).

Just had my renewal through and its now £655! :o After shopping around the best price i could get is £540.

SWIFT COVER and others be warned.

Look at the fine print

Will not if they can

fit new parts (yes if your z4 is an 08 they can fir 03 wing on it). mk 2 atleast is 09 but dont fancy old bit on my car

Fit OEM. if they can fit non BMW bits they will

Send to approved BMW approved center, so bodgeit and scarper can make a mess and ur bwm body wrt is void

Now my 1st zd had 13K worth of body repairs done by a bmw approved garage (austin m, porkers, even ferrs were babysitting the poor zd) Direct line had no issues with it infact it was already moved as the direct line approved garage refused to touh it. (the ferr was in due to having a brick wall fall on it after bad weather it was only a day old poor owner lol).

Yes from googling and feedback I'd heard they wernt all that good but a friend of mine has used them no problem. What I would say is though he hadnt had to claim with them..

Best quote we got was £330 from BMW,s own insurance thats with current SP30 and £250 excess plus wife.

Diamond (I am a woman) and Admiral give competitive quotes this year (same underwriter). Live in the South East, minor accident claim at fault, 9year NCD bonus, 2 named drivers, no mods.
Still expensive though! :)

swiftcover again

good price and it dropped at renewal but they wouldn't let us insure extended family (ever) which seems a bit odd as you don't expect a 70yr old mother in law to be much trouble.
