Business Networking

I am a freelancer, working currently at IBM for a major Dutch Bank. Current title is AIX (a form of Unix) SME (Subject Matter Expert) for some big migration project. I also create exams, do trainings and various other things. 40 hours per week is my aim though I am hardly sad when that isn't the case (charge by the hour, whoooo!)

On the side I hook my mates up with all kinds of techy stuff for their home (FreeNAS storage with offsite backups (for their family pics and whatnot) which has all kinds of nifty programs (sabnzbd/sickbeard) and networking our houses together (EoIP) so we can share all kinds of goodies (and because we can).

Basically, your garden variety geek.

ps thank heavens for Final Salary Pensions , God rest their souls :(

I enjoy spending the pension I worked 37 years to accrue - I concur with the above statement.

My ambition is to take more out of the pension fund than I put in - I think I am well on the way to fulfilling that one.

I'm saying nowt on the grounds that thanks to the F@@kwits in the financial industry the pension that I have been saving for the last 20 years aint worth the paper the it's printed on and no longer trust any of them further than I can throw them.
No idea what to do for the future now other than stick it under the mattress.

Anyway

I am CEO, General Manger, Pa and general dogsbody of a small firm (me) specializing in giving technical support in the installation, commissioning, servicing and breakdown repair of Liquid Packaging production lines, anywhere in the world (within reason) that will pay me.

My question is what kind of company could we form with our collective skills????

Actually, Adamski and I were plotting to break into and drain an oil refinery on the Thames Estuary a short time ago... Hmmmm.

I am an Account Director at BT Global Services looking after our business with large corporates - until recently I worked in the team running our Royal Mail Group account, and now I run the sales and service teams supporting a large defence company, and a European IT infrastructure, services and solutions provider. I used to do 37 hours a week... unfortunately, despite my best efforts, that's a distant memory :( Can't complain though, still getting paid :D

Never trust anyone to make the best of your cash but yourself

LOL, I would suggest taking this thread back on topic before it turns into a dick swinging contest about final salary pensions and how people made their fortunes :poke:

I work for a financial software company and have a background of application and hardware support. My official title is "Technical Specialist", but they have yet to tell me what this specialty is, seems to me a bit of everything :D

I'm a psychologist working for the NHS and am in my final year of clinical training. Once I gain the title Dr I will initiate my plans to take over the world. Bwaaaaahaaaahaaaaa! :D

Always worth networking.

I'm Creative Director for a very large broadcasting company, primarily looking after the development of toys, clothing and other associated merchandise opportunities linked to our shows.

Neat thread! I hadn't noticed this one before.

I'm a writer / technical writer specializing in professional audio, musical instruments, camera gear ... a nice blend of audio and visual media stuff. Basically I help my Japanese clients plan and execute their promotional materials and sales tools for the English speaking world.

As you might have surmised from the above, I also do a bit of of music and photography in my spare time. 8)

"Spare time," sadly, is usually in short supply.

Very interesting.Ive never heard of most of the jobs before, fascinating job titles.Im retired but always up to do some gardening to expand the Z4 pot.Not this weather however.

I'm an IT Manager for Salons Direct Ltd, a Hair & Beauty wholesaler.

Apparently I should know lots of stuff about technology. I think this includes computers and servers, even something called Windows.

I am an Associate of an Architectural practice in Doncaster.

I specialise in the design and build of anything from houses to churches, schools, hospitals.. Anything really.

If anyone is thinking of building a house or wanting a house extension.. I do you special pwice :D

I think there is quite a lot of dick swinging going on with some of these job titles and job descriptions.
