Anyone selling a Z4M Coupe? or know where to look

Cool...there's hope yet then that there's buyers out there who buy the car for what it should be bought for....the pure joy of....the CAR!! I cared about nothing else but the drive....ooooh, and the sound....er, and it looks quite nice too :D

I'm beginning to wonder whether it's just not selling because I really don't want to let her go :(

If I manage to keep her though, I definitely need you guys to give me some advice on sorting out the suspension...like most owners have.

I also could do with some different tyres after reading most of this forum by the sounds of it, so every time I get a little heavy on the throttle the back end doesn't go mental!!!

Roll on the summer...er, hang on, wait...obviously I won't have it by the summer!! :?

Just to let people know that I am no longer looking for a Z4M Coupe.

Thank you to all of your for your advice and those that PMed me to let me know you were thinking of selling.

I got myself a Z4M Roadster now, the car was the right colour, miles and spec for me so I went for it, although spent a little more than I should have! :driving:

Got 30mpg on the journey home (due to a combination of rain and 50 limits on M1) but I'm sure I can 'improve' on that once I start getting to know the car a bit better.

"Motorshow Preparation"

Interesting.. 9k too and a beautiful colour combo.
That was the one i was looking to buy, but some bugger beat me to it. That said i think the one i got in the end just as nice.

The one you got 'in the end' looks great!
Thanks, i'm really pleased.

I have just had a call from a guy called David a Dick Lovett Hungerford who have just taken in a Z4M Coupe Red/ Champange Leather ( all the toys) 57plate, 16K on the clock up at £23k

Maybe worth a call, David is sending me through the details so if you want me to pass them on, send me a PM.

Cheers

Chap

Caveat Emptor. Treat it like a privately sold car (IMHO).

Perhaps he means that sometimes they sell 'event' cars or 'press' cars through AUC. You know, the ones that spend their early lives sideways...

Last year I very nearly bought an SLK55AMG KX55AAO. HPI showed it had been registered as K 2 SLK some of its life previously when owned by MBenz first of all.

K 2 SLK rang a bell and a bit of online digging revealed it was the press car used on a number of TV programmes (Top Gear, paintball exercise) and as KX55AAO I think I found it online as the press car used for the Autocar magazine review.

Here it is http://www.autocar.co.uk/CarReviews/FirstDrives/Mercedes-Benz-SLK-55-AMG/211165/

The owners selling it privately were a couple in their late 50s and I honestly believe that they hadn't driven it in anger. When I called to explain why I was pulling out of the sale they understood but were quite annoyed with MB who of course never mentioned its history to them when they had purchased it some time previously!

Also, worth checking the service and warranty history through customer services and the dealers that the car visited for the details.

It's up on AUC at the moment. No pics yet though.

Because, in my experience, AUC at Dick Lovett doesn't mean s**t.

yep, big difference between a press car and a staff car, which are generally only kept for 3 months and looked after, as the penalty for the staff behind returning it other than perfect are not good... of course problem is you can;t tell, except if you're as eagle eyed as texasjohn, good move about the previous reg bit, hadn;t cottoned on to that.... most of the press BMW have "BMW" plates.. my neighbour brings most of em back at some point !

Raify - to be fair Dick Lovett at Hungerford is a completely different dealer. They were excellent with me and my car has been bang on problem free.

Ah! I take it back then. Didn't realise the Dicks were different :P

Thank you, I was just lucky as I had been reading online road tests and looking at pics just before doing the HPI so the SLK reg was in my mind. MB customer services confirmed it was a press car but did say it would have been checked over quite a lot and no expense spared.

BMW AUC tend to mention this kind of thing within the 'optional extras' part of the advert though, the three I have seen are:

'Motorshow Preparation' (possibly a bit of wear to the interior from people getting in and out a lot during shows, maybe shifting through the gearbox a bit, etc)
'Press Preparation' (probably driven quite hard and a bit sideways)
'Event' (I assume that this means some kind of time spent at test drive days, demonstrations, possibly driven quite hard lots of short blasts type of thing)

Event is likely something like sponsorship of the golf down the road, they provide the cars to drive the guests to and from.... however they also used to sponsor Rockingham, so i would imagine that the cars used there could be "event" cars too !!!!

As i speak, parked in the space next to mine is my neigbours..... registration X5 BMW.... can you guess what it is :D

You can add - BMW Launch Car to the list, as per my 135i. No noticeable wear or tear issues. I get the feeling it was a Launch showroom car.

Mines a press car, was used in America with foreign plates as one of the original 11 launch cars and I'm told it's probably the first RHD Z4M made.

I have recent emails from the Media guy who ordered it, written promises about how carefully they ran it in (up to the 1200m service) and I got it 3 years ago with 1400 miles on it at a very very keen price.

I would be fairly sure that it's spent more time sideways since I've owned it, than it ever did in America 8) .. Oh, and the built quality is perfect - possibly as everything has been tripple checked

So if the price is right, and you like the spec... don't be put off by Press / Motorshow prep. Obviously, seeing it on a paintball challenge being shot at, is a totally different thing all together.
