Anyone selling a Z4M Coupe? or know where to look

I wouldn't bother agonising about the DSP too much - unless it's the non-hifi system it'll be good enough as you point out. The rest of the spec seems spot on and the engine has barely been broken in. I doubt they will budge a great deal on price seeing as they place their cars about as keenly as the main dealers go, but then again I prefer this approach to haggling 'til the cows come home. Up to you but I went to quite a few other dealers in the London area and they were a big step up in terms of customer service. Just one thing - if you take it out on a test drive you WILL buy it

I drove an 07 plate Midnight Blue/Champagne with 8k miles at Sytner Coventry this time last year and we couldnt agree on price! I was smitten though and given what has happened to values since then I am a bit gutted that I didn't take it at 22500 (I bid 22 max) as I could have effectively had a depreciation free car for a year. Hindsight is a wonderful thing lol :(

Prices really were rather silly this time last year. My brother bought a very tasty 3 series for practically nothing he's absolutely laughing - I'm pretty confident he could sell it on for quite a bit more than he paid for it. In contrast I managed to stuff myself by crashing my car (not the MR god forbid!) the week before I sold it...

For the sake of five hundred quid ? That is gutting :)

Yup, dealer trade in on Z4Ms now several grand more than it was 14 months ago....they were crazy times.

The interlagos Z at Dick Lovett has the same YF prefix as mine, meaning it was a BMW management car registered at their Thorne distribution centre. Check the online service records as mine doesn`t have a record of the running in service although it`s been stamped in the service book. When I bought the car I got BMW to check it had the service done and indeed it had, otherwise it wouldn`t have been able to go on AUC scheme.

Looks like a bargain, get them to put a new alloy on and away you go!

It's been sold, first thing yesterday morning apparently!

The hunt continues. Got an insurance quote for £366 though, which was nice... :D

If you would have been quick you could have had the really nice red one that was on PH this morning. It was priced at £19.5K with all the options, CSL wheels, Imola Red/Black, 11 months warranty, 07/56. I tried to phone/e-mail the caller at 9am this morning but it was gone already after only being on sale for 5 hours. Just goes to show that priced attractivley these cars dont hand round very long. Not that miffed though because the IB one that I collect on Wednesday is still a bit of a bargain imho.

Cheers
Paul

I did see it, I spoke to the chap (Dave IIRC) and he had someone there viewing it as we spoke! Shame I didn't log on a couple of hours earlier as he was only 45 mins from me.

I did tell him not to accept any offers whatsoever as I would pay the full asking price, but he didn't call back and the advert seems to have gone too. Shame he didnt mark it as 'sold' so that other sellers could see what to pitch at for a sale.

I have a budget of 20k absolute max and have emailed just about every seller on PH telling them I have cash ready, but that it's limited to that amount only. None seem interested in dropping to that and perhaps holding out for the long game just to get an extra grand or 1500?

1500 might be a lot to some people . I think it also comes down to how desperate they are to sell and whether or not they like sellling cars also, I know I don't, have better things to do on weekends than entertain many time wasters and drreamers etc so would try to price for a quickish sale.

You may have to jump in quick, might be a Spring/Summer rise in prices soon.

A seller might argue however that if you can afford to pay £20k cash, another 1000-1500 isn't a lot more money these days to pay them what they consider is a fair price :). And it's easy to think that if one car sells for £20k that is the market value, but bear in might as you have found out that compeition for a purchase at that price is huge. I bet that guy had buyers biting his arm off, which means probably the car was underpriced (if demand very high, a higher price could have been had)

Like most cars, especially sports cars, the price will rise when the weather pics up. So, buy buy buy.
Flip it the other way, I had to pay a premium for buying a Disco 3 when it was snowing as I signed the paperwork
£1500-£2000 on a 0% Interest credit card

Yes thats fair comment. I know what you mean about timewasters, I have dealt with enough of those in my time.

In fairness I am looking for someone who is after a quick hassle-free sale. I have been keeping an eye on the market for a while now (checking the adverts once or twice a week) and when people that have had the car on for a while suddenly drop the price I seem to miss out, just due to bad timing or luck I suppose.

Hence I have now started emailing the sellers so at least they have my phone number in the event that they need to sell at a moment's notice I can be contacted and they know the budget I have. Hopefully this won't backfire i.e. someone who thinks my approach is cheeky starts prank calling at 3am!

I could of course borrow 1000-1500 but I just don't want to get into finance on a weekend car and literally do have 'cash waiting' although not kept at my home.

I will probably go for a Z4M Roadster if I can't find a M Coupe at 20k. There is an 08 Sepang (I like the colour BTW) MR at Redline for 22995 but it owes him more than 20000 otherwise we would have struck a deal yesterday.

The downside with the roadster is insurance, it is £366 for the coupe and c. £500 for the roadster for me on a limited mileage policy. Why the roadster is so much more I dont know!

I paid £32k for mine - that was a deal at the time - and I would consider £1500 is a lot to ask!

New these were £45k+. Two years ago they were low thirties. Now they are low twenties. It's an awful lot of car for that money. Good Z3Ms - which are 10 years old - are around £14,000-£17,000. Of course they are at 'cult' car status and people who buy those know what they are looking for - the Z4M market is still a bit wider than that....but it seems pretty reasonable to assume Z4Ms just don't have much further to go and when they do bottom out, they will stay there for ages. £19.5k is very cheap for a sensible mileage car IMO.

If the missus gives me clearance for this you can have mine :D :D

You are absolutely right regarding the (Z3) M Coupe, especially the S54s.

I think this trend is reflected in the price difference we are currently seeing between Z4MC and Z4MR; the Z4M Coupe was a bit cheaper brand new IIRC but the Roadster used prices are lower = its holding its value less well.

There is a small but possibly very important advantage with some of the roadsters (and literally just a handful of them)...as time goes on if the post 23 March 06 road tax bands go sky high a very few Z4M Roadsters will command a premium, those registered prior to 23 March 2006 (£215 a year band).

I think the car was released something like 5 March 2006.

Anyway, I digress, the thread is about M Coupe after all!

Well, if you can wait a month (got to keep it for my birthday driving tour), mine might be up for a quick sale due to lack of work and this is my current biggest monthly outgoing, so will be the first thing to go to rein in my outgoings.

However, whilst I accept that if I want a quick sale I'm going to have to price it 'attractively', that doesn't mean I happy to accept bottom book for it and thank you for it, as I know how much it's really worth and how much/little I've been offered by WBAC and a couple of dealers that called when I got my finance settlement figures in December (what is strange is that they are able to let all the dealers know I'm thinking of selling, but can't get their arses out of gear and send me the letter they promised with the settlement figures for the next 6 months) - and as you can see, I've still got the car, so haven't rushed to sell (it's not even advertised).

29,000 miles, full service history (1200 mile running in service, oil service as per OBC, another running in service about 1000 miles after the new engine was installed, and it gets interim oil changes in between the schedule ones. It had a new engine at about 22,000 miles, so no Inspection 1 stamp (but does have the warranty invoice for the engine), new discs (genunine) and (EBC Yellow) pads all round about 2000 miles ago - and the best bit is that it has cupholders :P

Spec is as per my signature, except for the 3 storage nets as I've removed 2 to refit elsewhere.

Lots of pictures on my website here (main page), here (N.Wales run 1) or here (North Wales run 2) - although the car no longer has the CSLs.

It appears that Glasses PX value on an excellent 06/06 coupe with around 30k miles is 19100 right now, I didnt realise quite how close my budget is to that!

I presume that assumes no extras although yours is an individual spec (and has cup holders!)

Good link, nice to have free Glasses values back again :)

If you put a 56 plate car in there instead it's saying £600 more with the same mileage - £19,700. Without options that suggests a non Nav car too. Remember Glasses guide is just that, a guide, and from personal experience I can add dealers are offering more than that on them at trade in, I was told demand is good and they are dropping £150-£200 a month currently?...So yes £20k seems a bit tight, £19.5k for that red one seems mad. Have you seen this one? very high mileage but I mention it because you said you want a weekend car - maybe it's less important? I am sure that car can be had for a lot less than £20k, the mileage is going to kill it as a daily driver and put a lot of people off. £17,000 - £18,000 maybe?

I have seen that one, the mileage doesnt put me off but unfortunately the seller does (google the sellers name and look through any Japanese car forum threads that come up).

You are right though, as it is a weekend car that I intend to keep for a long time something either very low mileage (would remain low) or very high mileage (would not get higher due to little use, and the others will catch up in the meantime) would suit me.

There is one in Dorset with about 40000 miles on it at 19995 I have spotted just a moment ago. I should give the seller a call really but its just such a long way (4 or 5 hours drive) from here.

IIRC the only things it didn't have specced from the options list are the extended storage option (which I've rectified by adding the cupholders & net), the electric folding mirrors and windscreen sun band.

I also spent over £1000 getting it detailed and fitted with Paintshield film (which can be removed - without leaving any residue - with a small amount of heat).

Here's a link to the dealer spec from when I bought it.

Please accept my apologies! I thought you were implying that it ONLY had cupholders (and no other options other than the paint/leather)

Looks like a great spec car. How do you find the DSP? I have Logic7 (same thing different name) in my present car and it is brilliant (company car which is also is from Specialist Cars BMW).
