A11y is on the case ... I'm presuming the plan would be to do the skyfall road and Skye ...

End of May start is looking best for me

Not seen A11y for a while either... Was he ever / is he on the case ? If not then I can help out, though distance planning may prove problematic. Never been to Skye, so help required
Still here, just totally disillusioned with the forum at the moment but lets not open that can of worms :)

JUST MAKING SURE I`VE NOT MISSED ANY UPDATE OR NEW LINK. STARTING TO FILL UP MY WEEKENDS AND AM TRYING TO PLAN AHEAD. NOW WE ONLY HAVE THE WEATHER TO KEEP US AMUSED. LOOKING FORWARD TO DRY DAYS AHEAD. ITS SCOTLAND SO LETS FORGET ABOUT TEMPERATURE AND SUN.

Good shout & reminder !

My Zed's coming out of the garage tomorrow ! - sadly only cos the garage door opener is being replaced - but need to start planning some runs soon. :driving:

I was wondering about 17th March - bit specific but I've got a busy spring - half though of the Fife Run again as its low level and coastal and it was only a small group that did it ?

+1 for the 17th got a week off then :driving:

Got a letter for the Cayman preview event at the Glasgow OPC 11 March, anyone from the forum going along?

Ok will set up a thread for the 17th... If someone would be so kind to keep a note of runners and riders as I'm going to be a bit occupied the next fortnight

So do we have any takers for last weekend in April ? Quite fancy the west coast myself - I could do either the Saturday or Sunday . We talked a bit about it over coffee yesterday.

Plus anyone fancy leading it :driving:- going back through the posts I quite like some of JGP56 suggestions.

Depending on work commitments, it sounds like it could be an interesting run though, so you can put me down as a possible for attending. :)

yes I am up for a blast at the end of april. Only been on a couple of road trips but would be willing to organise the trip if this is ok. Would need some idea of the protocol. As far as I can see we drive for about 30-45min and stop somewhere suitable with parking (toilet/photo oportunities, not at the same time!) Throughout he day. Leave from some where central perth/stirling/glasgow, for a hoon around Argyll.
Let me know your thoughts.

John

Hi John- your plans look good and it would be good to get someone with a fresh eye for it. I'm sure with your other meet background this will be right up your street.

Fife run was probably short on driving due to the area and time of year - we tend to probably do bigger stints in the day than yesterday I'd aim for an hour to one and a half hours. . The Fife run is a bit of a miss-mash on low level roads . I would say Adam's Braemar run is a better idea interns of distance between stops . The thing is we all do it slightly differently and that's what makes each run different.

The last two runs we have done things on-spec for lunch but judging by yesterday's turn out and seeing as you are doing a very pretty part of Scotland you might get reasonable numbers - so we might want to book somewhere- and if possible the parking. I would say you might be looking at 10 cars for west coast.

Towards the west coast we probably try less to stick together and tend to have agreed meet points during the day .

What we tend to do is the following - set a date about 5-6 weeks before a run, start collecting numbers and define a start location at the same time work up a route which we then email out about a week before . I tend to drive the route myself when I'm planning it a couple of weeks before hand and I know Adam does the same - yesterday was a classic example - as I'd not run the route last week I was nt aware the north fife coast road was shutb

Anyway those are my thoughts I'm sure everyone has a slightly different perspective

Here is the guide...http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=5281

All sounds really good, and gets me off the hook of organising another run for a few months

Yeah - last few posts sounds good - will pencil in end of April and will try to keep clear.

Agree with ZermattV comments there - we tend not to have anything as structured as a fixed driving time between stops. Some stops yesterday (just by circumstance) were pretty frequent and close. On the Sky / Applecross runs we sometimes seem to have driven for ages without stopping ! Looking forward to JGP56 suggestions ( no pressure mind !)

if this is ok will i set up a new thread for that weekend. With date start point etc to follow. Have had some thoughts on options using some back roads I know off the beaten track (scenic not so fast being single track).
As suggested I would travel the final route prior to the event to check on routes/roadworks/parking/food etc.
I await a reponse before I do any more.

Yep go for John - Set up a new post for the date and take it from there - Swiftly is provisionally up for this as well so that's four strong possibles

We are going to have to 'cry off' for the end of April  ...........Unfortunately we will be on our holidays :D
