2013 Scotland Meets - Planning and Discussion Thread

May onwards is good for me too, hockey season finishes in late April so have mostly free weekends after that :).

Like the idea of a Scotland run , been a few times on the Motorbike for a long weekend (last five years in six ) usually stop around Loch Ness , love the Glencoe road , over to Skye to Portree  and that Applecross pass is interesting :D

:driving: Just found this discussion thread.
Suggest a possible Argyll loop, start in stirling (central) head to green welly and on to glencoe, to fort william, down to oban, down to lochgilphead, option to stop off at Dunadd 5 miles short of Lochgilphead, ancient kings of Dalriada crowned on top of small hill (foot print on rock at top) we live at base, coffee stop a possiblity lochgilphead to glasgow.

Option is drive from glasgow to Lochgilphead via link road over to Loch long just after Cameron house, from lochgilphead to campbeltown round to carradale looping round on single track road back to tarbert, then option to get ferry over to Portavadie (only a small ferry would be dependent on numbers on run otherwise an hour to wait for the next) new marina opened there for pit stop. on to Tignabruiach, and either back up to rest & bethankful and glasgow or another ferry from Dunnon to largs or greenock? then glasgow.

These offer some fun and scenic roads to consider.

Some great roads there indeed... some of the Scottish meets over last 2 years have indeed used many of these roads..though not all the way down to Campbeltown - worth considering that one. The full routes details are seldom publicly posted mind.

I presume others have recognised the St Marys Loch road area in the latest edition of Evo as covered by forumites a few times now ?

I did a run down to Campbeltown on my motorbike once - it's a long way down and you think you're never getting there.

One of my favourite roads is the A816 from Lochgiphead to Oban - beautifully smooth and some bits are like a switchback. :driving:

So whats happening regards Scottish meets for this year?,as its all went a bit quite of late/with Nosa leaving and not seen many posts from too many fellow scots forumites, lol :driving:

Indeed. Was just talking about a Scottish road trip with Wee Bing this evening, but it's all gone quiet :?

I'd be interested in a wee Highland hoon if there's anything happening :driving:
Has Adamski left the forum ? Haven't seen a post from him for ages

He's still around, not sure where he's been though... Lurking :D

Yeah - some of us Scots are still around and up for more meets !

Might just need someone to take some initiatives . . .

I had planned to re-ignite this thread around February. Still intend to plan a few runs this year. I'm happy to host a bigger (maybe overnight) run, and a shorter one day event.

A11y is on the case ... I'm presuming the plan would be to do the skyfall road and Skye ...

End of May start is looking best for me

Not seen A11y for a while either... Was he ever / is he on the case ? If not then I can help out, though distance planning may prove problematic. Never been to Skye, so help required
