Z4MC at Horsepower

Yea...

Looking at the figures, nearly half of the M coupes are black in one form or another...So plenty to choose from if thats your favourite.

Black 226
Blue 175

So...401 of the cars in the popular colour groups.

Just 187 cars available in all of the other colours put together if want something with a bit more individuality..

You should work as some sort of data analyst....the information you'd create for your employer would be invaluable :poke:

The fact is that Midnight Blue, Monaco Blue, Carbon Black and Ruby Black (which all differ quite substantially to the "common" Interlagos Blue and Black Sapphire) have more individuality than Imola Red for example.

For me, Midnight Blue and Carbon Black were my primary preferences (did look at Imola Red too.....but didn't find the perfect example). In the end a Carbon Black example came available at the right time and I fell in love with the colour. In bright light it has a hue and metallic fleck like no other....stunning (imo of course):

I was just putting numbers up that was easy for you to read,so you didnt miss them too..

Carbon black is a great colour when clean and in the sun... Dull, flat and lifeless the rest of the time..
Just like the black Z4M i used to have, fantastic when clean but a nightmare the other 95% of the time..

Imola is similar, just not as hard to keep swirl and hologram free..

Arent you going to sell yours soon ?

Again, another agree to disagree, I love CB all the time, never lifeless imo:

Nope, not selling, not for the foreseeable anyway. Am moving to Singapore for a couple of years in January. My dad will be keeping the Z, on my return, once I've made my fortune, I'll be buying a house with 3 garages, in which I will keep the Z, my future E30 M3 and E46 CSL

Just as an aside, going through my photobucket, I spotted this pic:

This photo made me fall in love with Imola red. Although I almost think IR is the opposite of CB, looks its best in dull light, with the red looking a bit deeper. That said, looking best in dull light is probably ideal in the UK

This was the car that made me fall in love with Imola Coupes..

I seen it once at Gaydon......Never knew who owned it,and still dont but it was a beautiful thing...

These photos maybe 2008

With all that's said, let's not forget that an Mc in any colour is rare and are desirable in what ever colour to a lot of people :)

I do agree that generally rarer colours bring extra money, but not always. Midnight Blue, Monaco Blue, Space Grey and Titanium Silver are some of the rarer colours, but aren't necesarily sought after in high demand.

Do you have any evidence to support that or is it your opinion?

For what it's worth, I'm in the market to buy at the moment and the only colour I'm not so excited about it silver. If everything was equal between cars I'd probably go for a black one.

That being said, my mate owns a relatively large body shop and I might have him completely respray what ever I buy in a mineral white and carbon wrap the roof.

It's just an observation. There was a titanium silver Z4MC that struggled to sell for a while (can't remember the members name, but I remember that he had a series 1 or 2 defender) and also a midnight blue example that also hung around for a while (again I can't recall the member), both rare colours but didn't excite buyers. I love both colours, but I don't think rarity of the colour is the only factor in a sale.

That said, i do wonder whether DannyG would have achieved such a high price if his beautiful Sepang example was interlagos blue instead of Sepang. I do agree with Zermatt in that there is no "silver bullet" with colours.

Perhaps I do come across a bit strong....I just love a discussion :erm:

Yep Ti Silver - loathed

You know that's not what I meant. Ti Silver is a gorgeous colour and Dubsesd's car is one of the best looking Z4MC's out there. All I meant was that, even though though a car may be a rare colour, doesn't mean that it'll be desirable or command a premium. It also doesn't mean that it wont.....should Dubsesd decide to ever sell his car I'd imagine he could almost "name his price"

Stunning.

So judging by this thread. There is a black M Coupe, 55K miles on PH for £14,750 and a Sepang Bronze with 26K miles on AT which is £18K, I am tempted by the Sepang as it seems like a bargain, the black one is nice though with black interior.

Are either of these cars known to the club? I am beginning to change my mind about the E89.

Mine too - to be fair Stephen said he loved silver too - just implies its harder to shift .

I spoke to a sports car dealer recently of another marque - he says in his years of selling them that it is very unpredictable some things go in days some things take a few months.

Every Zerr knows that Sterling Grey is THE finest shade of paint for any Z4 & one can only imagine the disappointment & offer commiseration to those who want the extra horses but have to make do with such limited & quite frankly dull palette of colour's :poke: :P

Great post , really enjoyed the sidetracking of the original topic & glad to see no-one offended :D
