if the hotel gets booked up I can thoroughly recommend this B&B - worth a try at least:

it is where I will be on the Monday and Tuesday evening :D

Yeah me neither. I wonder if we could sneak our cars on the grounds and tent with someone else. Just don't worry if I snuggle up next to you in the night :?

Ah well, hotel seems cool. We can always go "raid" the campsite for beers!

It's unusual for a tenting ground to get booked up as they tend to just keep opening new fields - but I guess that's quite a posh site by the looks of it, more of a caravan site than a rough and ready tenting type place.

I wonder if it's worth us getting numbers for tenters and then approaching the site and asking about a group booking? If they know we're all together they can put the tents together on less total pitches and perhaps even do it a bit cheaper (as they'll be getting more campers in total)

Anyone up for that?

I'm fine with that, I think I can still cancel the hotel room up until 24 hours prior. I mentioned I was with the other zed four people to the campsite (and hotel), but she didn't seem to know what I meant by that. I almost just asked for a caravan spot to put my tent on.

I think there's a fair few people on here booked on the camp site. If we got all the names together we could ring the site and see if we can all get put together and squeeze a few more in.

Though there may be some kind of rules about distance between tents for fire safety or some such at a site like this one. Plus the lady on the phone when I rang didn't come across as the most accommodating person in the world!

Yeah, I suspect from the campsites website that they may be thinking we're all going to be turning up in huge 6 man tents or something, I suspect most of us will have smaller tents and probably be fine squeezing up a bit?

Peeps - if you can send me a PM with;
1) How many in your tent
2) size of tent (rough)
3) If you fancy being lumped in with the rest of us

Then I'll phone the site and see what I can do - I'll use my charm, so it's unlikely it'll work :)
 
I am going to phone the campsite rt now,so will let u know what they say,as i have booked for a 2man tent,tho i will be on my own(wife staying at home)

Have just spoke to waters edge,and they are full(there tents area is qt small/which i didnt know)

As for alternate tent pitches,there is another,larger site rt across the road,called LITTLE ACRES. TEL NO: 015395-67214,
and they have a large tent field(acrdn to woman i spoke to at w/edge),and is only 5MINS WALK FROM THE CROOKLANDS HOTEL ALSO :thumbsup:

SO BOOK IN THERE,AND LET ME KNOW HOW U ALL GET ON,CHEERS :D

SUNDAY DRIVE: FROM CROOKLANDS HOTEL TO THE YORKSHIRE DALES(LVN AT 10.30),TAKING IN HAWES(LUNCH),ETC.

WE WILL HAVE ROUTES /STOPS DETAILED ON PAPER FOR EVERY1,THANKS TO JOHN,AND WE/I WILL BE GETTING SOME CONTACT PHONE NUMBERS IN DUE COURSE,AND WE WILL MAKE SURE EVERYBODY KNOWS WHERE WE ARE GOING AND STOPPING AT,IF THEY GET LOST OR LAG TOO FAR BEHIND THE GROUP(S).

Got my campsite comfirmation in the post today so happy I booked up a couple of weeks ago :thumbsup:
 
I'm hoping that we will include a visit to Batemans BMW towards the end of our run on Saturday. I have spoken to their dealer principle and he's keen for us to call in and have a cup of tea and a biscuit :thumbsup:

We can have a look at their cars including, right at the front of their showroom an Audi R8 convertible :? Batemans should have their 'M' tech mechanic around saturday for a chat as well. Just need to confirm this and give him an idea of numbers - I said I thought 20 but now 40 mentioned :o Better get an extra packet of digestives!
 
is it ok to just show up at the crooklands on the sat or sun........

offshore at the mo, GF wont know if she can get free till the last min....... defo like to take part.... :)

Good news - Can now make both days - Might still commute as the passenger's want to swap over. Anyone fancy an early morning blast up the A65? :) Might need to take Monday off work!
Bad news - Zed back in the garage with a leak from the gearbox - Hopefully not too serious :x
 
Ok, got reserved in the LITTLE ACRES campsite and got canceled on the hotel. I'm not sure exactly where i'm at on the campsite (damn that english to english vocabulary), she might of said lord or lawn, I'm not sure. Pleasant enough lady, things seem quite unnofficial with her....fine by me 8)
Rumor has it that will be a 4 day weekend for us, so I should make it up Friday evening, leave Monday.
Now to dig out ice chest, camping supplies, emergency rations, etc
