Just called up for a quote. Doing it all by phone is beautifully antiquated however there was a refreshing degree of honesty with the process.

In my case they could match any sensible quote and were honest that if i wanted the bare minimum I might be able to get it marginally cheaper but highlighted the coverage differences. The break down cover similarly has some pretty good terms for the price.

Waiting on my old insurer (£650 more expensive) to post out the paperwork.

"Drivers saw their car insurance premiums rise by an average of £110 in the last year, a comparison site says. More expensive repairs and recent government changes to injury payouts pushed up annual insurance costs by 16%, according to Confused.com. It found drivers paid on average £781 on comparison sites for a comprehensive policy in the year to March 2017. Average premiums are set to rise to a record high and could pass £1,000 next year, it added. Newer vehicles have seen some of the biggest rises, because their increasingly complex electronics have made repairs more expensive...

I just wanted to let you know that the Chris Knott average premium through the club insurance scheme is much lower than that reported on the comparison sites.

In March 2016, Chris Knott's average premium was less than half that at £369. This March (2017) it was £399 - just a £30 increase and still majorly more economical than £781. There's definitely something beneficial for members in using the club scheme through Chris Knott then.

Just called for a new quote, best price prior on comparison websites was £1100, Chris Knott quoted over £3000!!

Do you research before contacting I suggest.
 
I think that was a 'screen only' quote - for some reason we couldn't get you onto the main club scheme (acceptance criteria). Had we done so you'd have been looking at something much more competitive to the other quotes you've received.

I'm sorry we couldn't help you this year. When you're a year older and have another year's experience please give us a further try.

Everyone check the main comparison websites, they will always beat these guys - and you get cashback/incentives etc
 
After a fair amount of negative forum feedback & in the past couple of years dropping from 3 car policies per year with CK to zero i'm happy to say ive just agreed 12months cover with them after they beat my best other quote by £38 ( Classicline renewal )
Only slight gripe i have & its one ive mentioned before & its also why i didn't take up a policy last year as a saving at that time of just £17 wasn't worth the amount of hoops i was asked to jump through :cry:
1) photocopies of driving licences for both drivers ( never been asked by other insurers ? )
2)copy of my other vehicle NCD so they can offer me a "mirror" of it :?
3)copy of the best quote i received
4) obtain & provide a code from DVLA so they can check my licence ? Which will offer the same info as a copy of my paper one :cry:
 
Thanks for giving us another go mr wilks. Just to help answer some of your queries: The licence stuff helps confirm a number of things (you can imagine what they all are - convictions, test pass date, address, etc). The NCD proof is so we give you the right amount on this car and the proof of quote is so we can prove to insurers why we needed to quote the price we did - we are audited on this stuff.

Got a good quote from you guys this year on the M3 cheaper than anyone else (price matched) like others have said a fair amount of paperwork to send off but it's not too bad to be honest and I found the staff to be very helpful too. Thumbs up from me a happy customer for the year 👍

Interesting business model you guys have I must say. Called up for a quote beginning of last week, was told it needed to be checked with underwriters (the only broker where this has happened to me) and would receive a call back next day with the premium. Needless to say that didn't happen and I've now gone elsewhere.
Maybe I'll win the GP tickets though heh so as not to have been a total waste of time :|

And what reason did we give? It's not likely to be the car alone that's the issue. Maybe it's your overnight parking arrangements or a lack of experience of RWD for example.
