Z4 Beer and Wine Club

Having just spent a long weekend in Eskdale, the Bluebird went down well

any decent pale ale is OK for me, some bloody good pubs in Eskdale...

And Jamiesons is my current short drink

Beer, liking the desperados, having been a service engineer on expenses in France in early 2000s
a decent IPA like harvest pale, can't do dark brown with twigs in, I'm afraid.

Wine, love it, can't drink it, gives me gut rot within 30 seconds if its at all tanniny, tannicky, whatever its called (I'm sure someone knows the real name for gut rot :fuelfire: too)

Afterwards - Port for me too. for some reason this doesnt give me gut rot. Which I am very happy about.

All of which is making me thirsty........

Port is the only non-beer drink that I can consume an entire bottle of and know exactly the state I will end up in. It's not pretty, but it is hilarious

Beer - Brew Dog Punk IPA
Wine. normally red, been enjoying a case of Austrian Pinot Noir recently, and I did mean Austrain and not Australian...

Beer - most real ale bitters, Theakstons etc. can't stand strong beer. 4% max, good session beer.

Red wine - Rioja

White wine - I find most are too acidic for me

Beer, mostly German: Tannen Zäpfle, Weihenstephan, plus some local regional Polish brews.

Wine - Zinfandel, Primitivo, Saperavi, Montepulciano. Brunello di Montalcino on the luxury side.

Red Wine - McGiguan Shiraz Reserve or rolling on from my holiday Pomerol :drinkwine:

Short - Jack Daniels :dizzy:

Port - any :D :zzzz:

Pomerol SoF ? Had a great time in June there , Marseilan a real gem , much prefer Languedoc to the Cote d,azur

Yes, we stayed in Mougins in the hills above Cannes, enjoyed some Pomerol :D I'll check out Languedoc

UK Beer: Adnams Broadside, Woodferers wherry, Badgers Thirsty Ferret, Fullers London Pride are a few of my faves.

Foriegn Beer: Erdinger Wies, San Mig, MGD, Keo and Efes.

Red & White Wine: As it comes, no particular favorites.

Shorts: Bombay Gin & tonic, Spicey n coke, JD n coke are good for a all nighter. A nice Malt to unwind on an evening

Gin - Tanqueray 10, Hendricks, Bombay
Wine - preferably a nice Italian Barolo or Montepulciano, but quite like any full-bodied red
Beer - German/Belgian/British preferably, but like most beers by Paulaner, Grimbergen, Shepherd Neame, etc. Also like most 'premium' lagers...San Miguel, Estrella, Peroni, etc. (but not English Stella).

Although I am happy to trying anything...once!

Whisky - Most Islay Single Malts particularly Bruichladdich, Laphroaigh and Lagavulin

Wine - any decent Red

Great thread :)

British Beer: Butcombes, Tribute, Ringwood Best, Flowerpots Bitter and just about any session beer (not a CAMRA member, just an enthusiastic hobbyist)- oh, and Brains SA on match day!

Lager: Bitburger, Steamwhistle or whatever the local brew is when abroad

Red Wine: Pinotage, Fleuri and a decent Malbec

White Wine: Pouilly Fuisse, Sancerre and Albarino

Malts: +1 for Bruichladdich, Gelnrothes (1988 if I can afford it, 1998 as a rule), Penderyn Madeira Single Malt

Bourbon: Woodford Reserve

Gim: Plymouth Navy Strength

Rum: Pussers

Love Port to death. It, however, positively loathes me.

For the record: I am NOT an Alcoholic. Alcoholics go to meetings.

Beer:
- Diebels Alt. Sadly pretty unattainable in the UK unless you pay through the nose to ship it :(
- Becks Vier. Due to the above, I make do with this.
- Peroni. Expensive but nice.

Red wine:

- All taste of vinegar to me. Perhaps it'll get better as I age :?

White wine:

- Paracombe Holland Creek Riesling. Tried this in Australia a few years back and was so nice. Again impossible to find in the UK unless you sell a kidney and buy online. Amazon sell it at least so a rare treat :p

Whiskey:

- Glenfiddich 15 y/o Solera. The old man has a bottle of this in the drink cupboard, best I have ever tried. Usually just stick to Jamesons though.

Cider:

- Expedition! Only sold in a pub here in Bristol called the Coronation Tap in half pints for £2.20 (or it was last trip there). They have never had it % tested (apparently) so have no idea how strong it is. Proper home brewed west country stuff.. After about 3 glasses I couldn't walk too well.

Don't drink anything else often enough to have an opinion, aside from Sambuca is vile.

Beer - Lagunitas IPA, Maui Brewing Coconut Porter, or Anchor Steam on tap
Wine - any California Syrah, preferably Santa Ynez Valley
Rum - Zaya, Havana Club (7 year), or Plantation Extra Reserve (Barbados)
