I have been working in Warrington today and popped into Helliwell Jones there.

I was informed by the sales rep there after he consulted his little book that this offer will stand aslong as orders are placed before 31st March 2012 and delivery is taken before the 30th June 2012?? :?

Yep, I confirmed this with a dealer this week as well so plenty of time to get an order in :)

I'm struggling to get a test drive at the moment as both dealers I've contacted haven't got a car. One of them has promised to get one in but the lack of a call back since Wednesday tells me they haven't sorted it yet :(

Fingers crossed they want to sell me a car and will sort one out.

Not the thing to say on a BMW forum but ive been looking at the new Toyota GT86 today and it appeals quite a lot to me, but I don't think I could convince the other half go go for one!

I was reading about the gt today aswell very nice looking car. Reckon Toyota will do well with it

I've taken the plunge without test driving - seems to be a case of all the dealer stock cars being bought up before they ge them due to the current offers. Still waiting to get a call back to test drive the sdrive23i which is the closest they have...

Must be mad but feel you can't go wrong with a Beemer.

Not so sure, can't help thinking it has a swipe of the Hyundai coupe which I am not a fan of. Mind you if it handles more like the MR2 than the Celica it will be a fun motor.

I think that yellow is the business...very unusual not many of them about on the road.

If you like yellow, have a look at this 35is on bimmerfest:

Owner has black powder coated the wheels and changed trim parts to satin black. Atacama Yellow isn't for us, but his car looks amazing:

I am defo having words with Mrs R it is not too late to change and I love that yellow...

Yikes! That wouldn't make it up our driveway. About the only thing we could do with it here on Anglesey is park it at Waitrose.

For that matter it wouldn't have cleared our driveway in Atlanta either.

Those rims and suspension set up look shattering. Why buy an already beautiful and expensive car to molest it that badly!

20 inches should not be allowed on Z4 in my opinion. 19 is the limit

That's what I am thinking! Can just imagine having a broken back on the drive back from the dealership haha

BTW I am back in to see my dealer tomorrow, he either gives me a better deal or I am cancelling so watch this space...

OK I have been back to see the dealer and renegotiated, didn't get to exactly where I wanted to be but got what I consider a good package within my budget and a damn sight better than what I had started with. It wasn't easy, they kept banging on about allowances and contributions the magic figure of £2225 kept coming up all the time...in the end I just said I want X,Y and Z for this amount per month with this deposit or I am walking out now. strange how they can suddenly rework the figures to make it fit your numbers!

Still somehow get the feeling I am being ripped off or rather not getting the best deal available. Why do they do this? I now have a new relationship with my dealer based on me thinking they are not trustworthy and don't have my best interest at heart...

They wonder why people stereotype them, I had the sales exec, the sales manager and the finance manager all around me at one point each bleating their heart out about how they were doing the best they could...and every 5 minutes they did a little better than the best they could do previously. Each of them had slightly different variants of pin-stripe suit on but they all shared the slicked back hair look, funny how you notice these little things when you are in the frame of mind I was. I am sorry to offend anybody but there is a category of individuals in the car sales, double glazing and insurance business that no matter what they do they will never be trusted, but they never do anything to try and change that situation and develop that trust...they continue to give as little as they have too for as much as they can hoping that the mugs and the naive amongst us will think we have a good deal. They then have the cheek to ask why they have such a reputation...

This was BMW I was dealing with, one of the world's most prestigious Marque's not Swiss Tony under the arches, but truth is I couldn't identify a discernable difference.

I still don't have the same deal as my friend, with the same dealer by the way, he has his own business and negotiates car lease deals every now and again, he currently has his employees in Audi's along with his own A8. In his own words he said he had the dealer tied in knots, not the same sales exec as mine, he has the same spec as me with the same deposit but a dealer selling price of £27,285 and £346 per month. This was what I went in with but they just wouldn't match it saying the salesman had over sold himself and made a mistake that they weren't prepared to do again...

Sounds exactly like when I bought mine in 2009. I think as long as you remain cool-headed, don't flap or show you are distraught at what they are saying. I remember thanking them several times for their time and that I was just going to walk away and go elsewhere!

As you also said, it left me with a nasty taste in my mouth with all this haggling and number bashing... It is meant to be a prestigious brand after all..

I'm probably going to be doing the same again with Mercedes in just over a weeks time.

(I may have used some American English words here. I'm still learning Brit car speak)

Because it is the tried and tested sales program.

By those rules it is the Sales staff's job to get as much money from you as they can. It up to you to pay as little money as possible.

Under this program It is in the dealerships' (plural) interest to keep the true cost of the car a mystery. They want to hide as much as possible about not only how much they pay for the car, but also the cost of the finance, manufacture incentive programs and manufacturer holdback (bonus).

This was BMW I was dealing with, one of the world's most prestigious Marque's not Swiss Tony under the arches, but truth is I couldn't identify a discernable difference.

If only were were dealing with BMW. Most stores are franchises, not company owned. ... BMW UK might own Park Lane, not sure ... The rest are independent with only franchise contract with BMW UK and even less of an agreement with BMW AG in Germany.

In theory BMW UK can pull a franchise license but that never happens.

=====

In America the internet has changed everything. The mystery is gone and we know what the dealers pay for cars. We know how much trunk money is on a car and what the holdback is.

I had a good relationship with a couple of BMW Sales Advisors. They would order me any BMW at a fixed no-haggle amount over invoice. We would split the finance mark-up. Yes, dealers make a profit on finance. Most customers don't even think about negotiating APR or fees. If there was a hidden incentive (trunk money) they'd tell me about it. It took me 2 emails and about 15 minutes to buy our X3 at a substantial discount. We only went in to the dealer to sign the contract.

When we started shopping for cars here, I felt like we had gone back in time 15 years. Very difficult to get any kind of a discount and it is hard to know what is what really. I did mange to get a reduced APR on the MINI, but only after walking away from a very unpleasant experience with a dishonest dealer. Took us nearly 3 months to get a the MINI. That was in 2008 when everyone was up to their necks in unsold cars.

And it is still too difficult. We just about gave up and were not going to replace the MINI when it came off contract. In the end we couldn't pass up the Z4 offer. . . I'm certain I left at least £200 'on the table' but it just wasn't worth the effort to get it.

I must be lucky then, guy I deal with is very transparent and explained all about the option allowances (showed me the BMW allowances book), how the finance codes work and showed willing to work on trade in value (showed me Glasses guide) etc. there are a few good ones out there, don't lose faith yet  sure he still has a margin and said so, otherwise they wouldn't be in business very long...

I always haggle on APR and usually manage to get a few % off here or there, not at 4.9% though!

Strange, unless I configured it incorrectly the on the road price is £35695 according to the BMW configurator. If right then you are £1000 better off than you thought. Have you excluded delivery etc in your final Figure?

I believe so I have taken the figures from my finance agreement, it says at the bottom "Total purchase price £29,525.72" and the balance to finance is £24,678.96.

I forgot to add I got the BMW Seal and Protect and a full tank of fuel on collection.

I dont think I have been offereda very good deal by my local dealer. Alpine White in Coral Red leather, no options. Deposit of £3000, of which £1500 is to pay off the negative equity in my part ex). So essentially £1500 deposit against the car and £335 PCM over 4 years and 10k miles per year.

Not really sure what to make of it to be fair.

Isnt the selling price on your friends deal before interest is added, and the selling price on yours inclusive of interest? The deals look similar otherwise. I wouldnt lose sleep about the repayments being £4 pm more.

Still looks a cracking deal either way
