can somebody please tell me how to add an image to my signature as when i click images in profile settings it does not give me the option to pick a picture it just puts the word image into my words part ?????
need to use a link like posting a picture in a thread - ie host it on something like photobucket ;)

I really should have waited on my latest Zed after reading this post.

The interest on mine is over 2% higher, and I definately did not get as good a deal. Shocking...

Its like buying anything though, dont go looking at prices after youve bought it... Damn...

Just checked, it was 8.7k dealer depo

Hmm, I got just shy of an £8k discount (if you include the free "clean and protect" treatment). Then again, as a returning customer they did give me about £750 over Glass's top book price for my trade in and fixed the price despite the March changover, so I certainly can't complain. 8)

As previously said, never look back once you have your motor -> my current 318d Sport Plus Touring is on 7.1% but is now being offered at 4.9% (and with complementary Prof Media + Vis Pack which I got some money off but had to pay a large chunk of) like the Z4. Was a good deal at the time.

Hi All,

Just joined as I'm looking to get a Z4 on this cracking finance deal.Have a MX5 at the moment so would be a nice upgrade. Firstly, can I also have a PM on the deal please?

Couple of questions:
I see the NAV system is on offer as a free upgrade on the web, is this offer available along with the assisted deposit?
The example of the BMW site is for 48 months, but I see peopple are getting 24 months as well. Some examples of the deals achieved would be most welcome

I'm liking the yellow!!

I asked about Free Sat nav with the finance and apparantly it all comes down to how much a dealer depo you take out. I did ask for clarification from BMW UK however they just palmed me off with each individual deal is seperately structured to the customer. Which essentially means, how much can the dealer can get from you!

Yellow personally isnt for me!

Lastly: MX5 is a brilliant drivers car however I always thought my mate looked like Noddy in it!

Thanks Keith, great info cheers

Haven't seen a yellow one in the metal but it does look good on the configurator...hours of fun!

MX5..It is a brilliant drivers car, had for for 5 years but fancy a change and this could be it if the numbers work. Need to get me a test drive as well.

Dont worry Joey, you can call it a womans car once you get the Z4 and join the rest of us having a chuckle at it!

You can see a yellow one in the Z4 brochure!

Ask your dealer to look up their "options allowance" booklet. They can, in addition to the dealer deposit contribution, use this to give you a further discount; I.e. for the z4 you can have the nav or an extra £2225 discount. The guy I deal with us straight up and even showed me the pages in the book and explained what it all meant. That allowed me to get almost £8k off with no deposit.

Welcome. You should drive a Z4. We owned a 2006 (first year of current 3rd gen) MX5. The Z4 and the MX5 are very different cars. I like them both but you may not.

We more or less got the 24 month offer on the Halliwell Jones website. That advertised offer is 8,000 miles a year for 2 years, £2000 depo, £299 a month for white M-Sport with no options.

We added options, so our price is higher. I'll post details when I have them in front of me.

Atacama yellow is only available as part of the "Pure Impulse" package. Download the price book and brochure for details.

Hi and thanks. Ive got a mk3 2007 so pretty much doing exactly the same switch! I'd love to get some more detail about the differences you've found between the two cars.

If you could post your deal that would be great. Many thanks

Others may disagree but here is my opinion.

My MX-5 was a US spec 170HP 2 litre. It has lower gearing than the UK version. I've spent far more time with the MX-5 than the Z4.

The Z4 is larger and heavier. Something like 300kg heavier. The Z4 does not have that same immediacy and behind the wheel 'fun factor' you get with the Mazda. The Z4 feels as heavy as it is. Power to weight on the Mazda is higher than on a 20i. But a Z4 20i is more than fast enough for road driving.

The Mazda is a simpler car. Mine didn't have stability control or even traction control. 170hp in a light rear drive car + no traction control means you can get into trouble if you do something stupid. But you know that. The Z4 has the full BMW alphabet of stability and traction control. In my opinion that is a good thing for nearly everyone. If want to you can put the Z in sport+ and dial back the traction control.

The Z4 is much more comfortable, especially on the passenger side. It is more of a luxury car than a sports car.

For a luxury car, The Z is a little too noisy but nothing like the Mazda top up at 70MPH in the rain.

The Mazda is a car you wear. The Z is a car you get into. Both are a little cramped behind the wheel, but the Z much less so. Both have good control placement but everything in the Mazda is in exactly the right place. The Mazda has the better shifter.

The Z uses much better materials. Everything in the Z feels much better. The floor mats in the Mazda were a joke and the carpet was cheap.

Base radio in the Mazda is better than the Base Radio in the Z4. Doesn't matter since you can't hear either of them at speed.

The Mazda beat us up on long trips. We usually took something else, but occasionally drove the MX-5. On long trips it was just too darn stiff and not at all fun for the passenger. The Z is a great car to be a passenger in.

Our MX-5 started to get squirrely above 80mph and I found it down right scary at 90. Z4 is an Autobahn car. 80 feels the same as 40.

EDIT: forgot a few. The Mazda soft top gets stiff in cold weather. As I recall the owners manual has a fairly warm lower limit for top operation -- somewhere around 10C. I spent many sunny winter days wishing I could put down the top. Z4 top is supposed to have a wider operating range.

If you are a weekend auto Xer -- keep the Mazda. Week end tours the Z4 is far better.

Salesperson told me we needed to take delivery by the end of March to guarantee this offer. They will probably have some sort of incentive for customers taking April delivery but I don't know what it will be.

Comments:

From the numbers on my calculator, Looks like dealer is using the 'free nav' offer credit as a deposit contribution.

Halliwell Jones in Chester have a plated Atacama Yellow Z4 23i MSport on the used side of the store.

From memory it has heated seats, 19's, Business Audio and Comfort Pack.

I think that yellow is the business...very unusual not many of them about on the road.

I would have gone for this if it was purely my choice however Mrs. R had a bigger say than me with the colour and she is not a fan of the yellow.

BTW I am back in to see my dealer tomorrow, he either gives me a better deal or I am cancelling so watch this space...

Poker face Kev! Poker face! Stick the lady gaga song on the way to the garage to get you in the game!

Thanks for the MX5 v Z4 write up Andre....very useful

Thansk Navid for the yellow pics. I do love that how that yellow looks. It goes with the whole sports car look IMO

I have been working in Warrington today and popped into Helliwell Jones there.

I was informed by the sales rep there after he consulted his little book that this offer will stand aslong as orders are placed before 31st March 2012 and delivery is taken before the 30th June 2012?? :?
