Z3 project...no going back now!

I don't think I've seen many sports cars in burgundy. But in saying that, my first car was a triumph spitfire in burgundy :D. It was my entry into the urban gentry :D. I loved the colour of my spitfire. I'm sure this will be a stunner.

Example of Rosso Barchetta, looks nice

My colour should be very similar to that one. I like it a lot. To me it looks a bit more 'classic' than a bright Ferrari red.

That looks great, better than it would in a bright red.

Pondrew, are there any options to dress up the engine bay? The plastic covers of the BMW i6 somewhat spoil the appearance of an otherwise great replica.
Or is the only option to…ahem…keep your bonnet closed in public? :D

I have something in mind, yes.
I am fortunate in that a good friend of mine is a stainless steel fabricator who also has a company next door to him with a laser cutter. So between them should be able to fabricate anything I want.

The car in the C&C auction has an M52, whereas mine has an M54, so the plastic covers on mine are easier to change/ overlay.

Not a job that is at the top of the list ATM, but it IS on the list.

Looking good so far. Here is an inspirational pic for you that I took last month.

Good stuff, I’m looking forward to seeing it

That has made me do a small 'boy wee'. :D

Difficult to tell in the sun but that looks like it could be Rosso Cina (china red), which was discontinued in the early 70s. If it is Cina, it is a super rare colour.
Ferrari will sell you a couple of litres of those 'historic' paint colours for around 5,000 euros a litre, apparently.

Exciting day tomorrow.
I have all my interior loaded up in the back of the Audrey to take to my upholsterer to discuss what I want and what colour I want.
Then I am shooting over to the bodyshop to (hopefully) give them the nod to paint the bloody thing.

I really should be doing my VAT return but the HMRC can wait a day or so! :P

Then on Thursday it's the wife's birthday. I am buying her 3 litres of primer, red paint and lacquer. She's going to be overjoyed, I just know it.

Car ready for final prep and paint. They have addressed and overcome all the issues with the body (there were a few).
It looks a mess but it is almost ready for paint, believe it or not.

It’s looking like a proper barn-find now, but you have to lose the bmw wheel caps
You should see the interior. Cabling everywhere and it's now full of used sanding pads!

The BMW wheel caps are sold, along with the hideous wheels.
Yes it does look much worse than it did when I got it, despite many many pounds being thrown at it.

I should have stuck to building houses! :)
