Wraps (for sixspeed especially)

Yup i like it to. MMM food for thought i guess.

Ali - it may have been done to death up in sheepland but i have yet to see a matt car anywhere in the Central Belt. I was thinking Matt Black, maybe with a gloss viper strip of sorts. I'd have to play with some software to see what to make of it.

lol @ sheepland! Cheeky sod!

It's gammon mate, matt black's been done. Go for Porsche green! ;)

Actually i'd quite like Porsche viper green, i saw a viper 997 gt3 at the Ring with black wheels and decals and it looked awesome. Thing is i'm more for the understated look so that's why i like the matt black idea.

I'm waiting for Ali_b to do it so i can see what it looks like first!

I have also looked into it and Raccoon. Can do it for about £1500.

I have been told that it will NOT damage the paint and when you don't want it anymore just peel off and polish the car.

I think it still looks the nuts I know a few people have had it done, but it's hardly been done to death. :?

Good timing ! Got this last Thursday from Totally Dynamic (Erdington, Birmingham ) :

"Many thanks for your enquiry.

We would charge £800 for a full wrap in Matt Black and also £85 for the roof to be done in a carbon effect wrap. The vinyl has a 7 year life and should you decide on a change before that, the material can be removed without damaging the paintwork underneath.

Should you require any further information at this point please feel free to contact me. "

Thats from the managing director, 7 year life, no damage to paintwork.....
I had to ask about the carbon effect roof.... might give it a punt.

On their FAQ it says something like 4-5yrs of life and the cost is circa £1500+VAT for a medium size family car?

Yeah £1500 is what they all seem to say.

£800 is CHEAP, if they have done quite a few cars I would be tempted to have mine done.

Who did you speak to?

I asked via their website, the guy who responded :

They are only up the road, I may pop up and check it out, perhaps try and arrange to see a car being 'unwrapped' and assess the damage !!

Thinking of wrapping the lower section of my front bumper in carbon look vinyl to match the rear diffuser.

What do you think it looks like having the lower front blacked out?

I may try it as I will be fitting it myself so shouldn't cost much. I'm going to a sign place I know to see if they have any vinyl this afternoon. If it doesn't look good I can take it off. :)

Thanks for the replys. I think it makes the front look a little bit more aggressive. No joy on the vinyl yet. I may call into that place in Brum mentioned earlier. :)

Go for it mate. Long as you get it done at a good place it should be ok.

Personally I'd leave the paint as it is but it's your car and would make it very individual.

I must have been on Mars as I only though this stuff was done on vans and race cars for adverts and not cars to totally change the colour. Having read the thread I cannot see how say a white vinyl would cover a red car and not show through like a rash after 1000 miles of road use. Still a cool way of doing things and no doubt limited only by imagination.

Breaker - get the price of that front lower spoiler wrap. I'm only 15 minutes from that place, which has to be somewhere near to B&Q, so an easy drive over for me to have it done.

I think in CF it would complement our rear diffusers perfectly :)

EDIT - seems Ebay is awash with this stuff for about £10 for enough to do a front lower lip of the spoiler.

I want to put a stripe on my car, maybe off centre from bumper to bumper, but it's ruby balck and has a red tint in bright sun light, so I'm not sure I could get away with it. Any ideas for style and colour on this

Feel free to photoshop it :)

toplad, what colour could you get away with? Maybe a dull cream colour?

:idunno:

It's the ruby paint, it changes colour in sun light, so a mat colour would look odd, maybe a very, very dark met. red would look good???

I just love that M3!!! Bet it's invisible on radar! Makes you wonder how good a Z4 would look wrapped in matt black, especially a coupe.

Go on Toplad have it all wrapped, you know you'll love it!
