Wraps (for sixspeed especially)

Not a fan then???

Quite the contrary

If I could afford to do it, then I probably would, although I'd probably also want a full carbon one too (kept in original carbon weave, rather than painted).

I think it looks great, i darnt ask how much for the kit??? is it one where the original arches ect have to be cut away? that would be scarry!!!!!

I have a remote control Tamiya one of those! Satisfies my Motorsport urges.

AliB - if you do go down the matt route, let me have a few photos. I'll be a little pissed off but i guess you're a long way away in Solihull!

Check out these vinly wraps, pictures from the gumball rally 2006 in London, i was there at the start and these wraps looked so authentic ! And yes that is, or was the RR Phantom that kissed the barrier at 90mph...

Yes very interested!
Would like mine in white, black roof (obviously as its a conv.), black CSL wheels maybe?

One car i had as my desktop pic for a bit, you can see the car being done, its was black originally:-

PS any info on what you put protection wise on wraps, if anything...? Or do you just wash it and thats it, needs nothing else?

I like the idea of a wrap but I don't think I could go through with it...I would like a classic martini style (early 80's Lancia Rally Style) Zed - but I would look like a pratt in it...
No mate ... That would be cool I just love that red, blue, white livery.. Its been on the 037,Deltas etc then Ford got hold of it and put it on the focus and porsche used it as well

Love the RR in camo.

I would like to have heard that comversation.

We wanna wrap your $250k car in camo tape, we won't hurt it, promise!!

Well I guess imitation is the biggest form of flattery, or whatever they say. Tbh, the black bar on the front bumper looks so good (IMO) that I wouldn't be surprised if a lot more go with this mod. That, and the relative cost is very cheap and with a wrap, easily reversible :)

I have also looked into it and Raccoon. Can do it for about £1500.

I have been told that it will NOT damage the paint and when you don't want it anymore just peel off and polish the car.

I think it still looks the nuts I know a few people have had it done, but it's hardly been done to death. :?

Good timing ! Got this last Thursday from Totally Dynamic (Erdington, Birmingham ) :

"Many thanks for your enquiry.

We would charge £800 for a full wrap in Matt Black and also £85 for the roof to be done in a carbon effect wrap. The vinyl has a 7 year life and should you decide on a change before that, the material can be removed without damaging the paintwork underneath.

Should you require any further information at this point please feel free to contact me. "

Thats from the managing director, 7 year life, no damage to paintwork.....
I had to ask about the carbon effect roof.... might give it a punt.

On their FAQ it says something like 4-5yrs of life and the cost is circa £1500+VAT for a medium size family car?

That's got 4-5 seats, so a Z4 with 2 seats should be half of that

I never knew this kind of thing could be done! You could change the look of your car whenever you liked :D

I'd want 100% guarantee that the paintwork wouldn't be damaged as they cut it to size around the edges though.

Lol, you could get them to make your car look like a lambo, or a skoda!!!! lol or a shark!!!!! pmpl!!!!!

Replacement front bumper, front and rear wings, and rear bumper is all you need for the look. All come in Carbon Fibre. Oh and I guess the wing as well. Last price was in the region of £15,000, when I looked at the end of 2007. But that was when the EUR had a good rate! Probably cost a lot more now. Only available through german dealers or direct to BMW Motorsport GmbH.

15 grand?????? lol for a few bits of body???? lol. Some one must produce a copy kit!!!

There are carbon kits out there, but you're still looking at £1500 for the roof panel, £1500 for the bonnet, £1500 per wing, £2000 for the rear hatch, £1500 for each door, and then you've got to get your lightweight windows done as well. That's already around the £12k mark and then you've got to spend a few days making it fit correctly.

Well Sixspeed started the trend by painting the front rail. I've followed on with front and rear wrapping so I expect others may do the same. A C.F. look roof on a coupe is the obvious one to do. Cost very little and would look good. The 'M' front and rears seem to have a style most easilly wrapped.

Wonder who will be the first to wrap their Z4 in chrome.
