Wraps (for sixspeed especially)

PLEASE no one get matte black. Theres an M5 that drives round my way thats had it done and it looks awfull. Unless you go the full race car look with stickers/spoilers etc it just doesn't look right. A fully kitted RX7 or Supra would suit but not a Z4.

To address the whole stone chips issue, surely you can take the car back after 6 months and just have the problem areas like front bumper redone for a £100 or so, if they're that bad. Also could you not have a clear bra put over the top of the wrap???

WOW that's quiet a lot!! I've just checked their site and found the following in their FAQ:
It is, I actually thought it was reassuringly expensive, they look like they use the best quality materials.

The link that peddy has posted does look great, but now I think that matt black is a bit overdone, although not necessarily on the Z4. The way forward in my opinion is matt white or pearl white.

How about chrome? :o Now that's a finish that would suit a Z4 with all that flame surfacing -
I've seen a Audi R8 done in chrome somewhere... 8)

are clear bra's not shiny? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of wrapping the car to begin with?

Only if you were/are going for a matt wrap in the first place.

The main purpose of wrapping a car is to change the colour - it's up to you whether you want it matt, glossy, satin, or a mixture of everything.

Hi Forum,

I have to say I do like the idea and I do think vinyl will be just as strong if not stronger than the 'chip easy paint' BMW use (Audi paint is like ceramic, almost bomb proof, a feather sems to be able to scratch my Z). You only get damage to paint work if it isn't immaculate when you wrap, ie it tends to lift off paint close to chips etc, but on smooth non chipped paint no problems, peel off, polish, like new.

Matt Black? If you are going to the effort and cost to wrap surely you want to go bold, like a colour nobody else has. Has anyone wrapped their car, pics please, in a 'top quality' carbon fibre effect vinyl? This would also help with chips as they will be much harder to see... I think I would go all chrome or carbon effect. I have an '05 pre facelift z4 roadster in silver and was thinking of covering the front splitter in carbon vinyl to get a similar(ish) look to Sixspeed. Any thoughts or photoshop pro's out there that can show me mock ups?

I think a full carbon-fibre effect one would kust look terrible.

If you want to hide stone-chips then either go for white/light silver, or for a pebble-dashed effect in the first place.

From a bit of research over the last few weeks, I think the chrome wraps are costing around £4k but not sure if that is because they are usually on McMerc SLRs and stuff like that, where the owner is prepared to pay extra for a 100% finish.

I have to admit, having a silver coupe, i've been toying with the idea of wrapping the roof panel in either a carbon fibre effect, or just matt black.

Cheaper than buying a carbon roof - and the gives the whole form screen/rear screen a really special look.

Question: I thought about giving the panel 5 or 6 good coats of wax before taking the car to be done. Basically so the paint below is protected. Any issue with this? (i.e. is it a BAD idea??)

Thanks.

They'll probably want to clean all the wax off before they fit the vinyl - otherwise it's not the car the vinyl is sticking to.
