Hi,
do you mean the loss of pressure indicator? I don't think that's dependant on having rfts, something to do with the abs I believe. I've put Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics on my 04 18s and have been very satisfied with the results, though not done that many miles so far. The ride is as firm, but without the jarring, and skipping over bumps. Steering is slightly heavier, no bad thing imo, car feels lowe almost, turn in sharper, and ever so slightly vague around straight ahead, as it always was really. Michelin Ps2s get good reports elsewhere too.
Re price, I found my local small-business tyre firm was the same price fitted as I could have ordered them for online and done the next day, so worth shopping around. You could argue it's a waste of money if the rft's aren't worn out, but then again you might say it's a waste not enjoying the car to the full. If the roads you use are as bumpy as near here then it's more worth it than if you're mostly on motorways.
I've read people have been told there are warranty issues, though mine was out of warranty. Best check with your stealer, or perhaps email BMW UK and keep the reply in a safe place. As I've said before though, keep the old rfts if you change them as my local stealer made a £700 deduction from my 120s trade in value as I'd taken them off (so I went elsewhere). Don't forget to tell your insurance company too.
Btw, local tyre chap warned me that there was a risk of damaging the rims taking off the rfts so beware. He didn't, but they were extremely difficult to remove.
Hope you're enjoying your new car
