Driving solo then sun out = roof down, when driving with SWMBO it needs to be above 25C and appropriate hair control devices must be in place :roll:

Ha I had to buy a wind deflector for my e46 just for her hair

Incidentally there is actually more wind inside the cabin of the z4 than the e46

I drive top down a lot, except when it gets above 90F (really too hot IMO). Or if I'm stuck in traffic, up it goes. I did notice that convertibles with ragtops are less likely to have the top down. Presumably because it is more of a hassle than a hardtop?
 
Yesterday I drove into Sydney around 8am, it was 9C (pretty cool by our standards), and not one convertible I saw had their top down. 330ci's, E89s, a 911, and a couple of Peug CCs, none of them. No excuses, it was a stunning morning:

Yup, too hot over 90F. I don't mind traffic (as far as top up or down only!), I just blast the air con.

I suppose some older ragtops can be a bit of a hassle, but I think it's more like there's a lot more ragtops than retractable tin tops, and they're a lot more recognisable. You really have to know cars to notice all retractable top cars passing by in traffic. Or maybe you're right, except the reason being ragtops tend to be older cars, the owner's have been there and done that, so are less inclined to drop the top any time they possibly can.
 
The trouble with those retractable tin tops is that as soon as you've stored something semi-permanently in the boot, the top is semi-permanently up. Plus I think owners of those things just tend to forget that the top even retracts. :lol:

sometimes they are a complete pain in the ass :headbang: too cold,too hot, too windy, too noisey,music too loud,too much bass..at least when on a motorbike you cant hear them moan.... :fuelfire:
 
It's 84F here now and humidity is high, doesn't feel comfortable at all. Just had the top down but when coming to a stop it gets really hot in the car, must be the humidity making it feel really hot and sticky :roll: Last saturday it was 71F, almost clear skies and little wind, perfect top down weather imo :) Didn't use the aircon though, maybe I should have.

Anyway think I'll go to the gym in an hour :lol:

Very true. Mrs Lozzer used to have a Megane CC (don't laugh) with a panoramic roof. Think the roof only went down twice in 18 months. She had the sun shining through the glass roof and the a/c on!!! :headbang:
 
Brighton to Lichfield (200) miles yesterday. Roof down all the way, sun shining, cruise control on and loved it :driving:

Even better when someone else was paying my costs and time.
 
sometimes i just don't feel in the mood to put the roof down.

i used to be the same when seeing other people drive convertibles in lovely weather with their roof's up. but now i realise it's more of a 'want' than a 'have to' thing to do.

i think coupe owners are just jealous they don't have that option.
 
I really dont see the need to have a roadster in the UK

If it was sunny here 85% of the time instead of 15% maybe
If it didnt have such a devastating effect on the looks of cars (taking them from sexy to poor / average) maybe
If it didnt come with such attached mindsets as womens cars, midlife crisis, shopping trollies, men lacking foliage, etc maybe
If it didnt have the potential to have a swimming pool inside maybe
If it was a retractable hardtop maybe
If it had a boot maybe
If it was called something much cooler than "roadster or soft-top" maybe

All this tells you one thing. Coupe's always. :thumbsup:

Not jealous one bit wouldnt want to ever drive a soft top.

E89. It's the only car that looks great top up or down. Most people don't even know it's a convertible roadster.
