E89. It's the only car that looks great top up or down. Most people don't even know it's a convertible roadster.

I don't understand the hair thing. There's nothing like driving with the roof down. Who gives a chuff if it messes my hair up, that's what hair brushes were invented for.
To me the days of the year we can put the roof down make it worthwhile even if it's not as many days as I would like.

Put the roof down, get your hair blown in the wind and smile. :thumbsup:
 
I'm afraid I have to disagree, the E89 front end may look slightly better than that of the E85 / E86 but the back end is hideous! The Coupe is the best looking Zed ever made, bar none.

It also has boot space issues, etc. I'm with the OP I'd never ever buy a soft top roadster

I might consider a hard-top convertible but would more likely buy the SL than the E89..

Just my personal opinion :driving:

The point was, why have one when you don't use it properly ? If you don't want to drop the hood, get no joy out of soft top motoring, then why spend the premium for one (in most cases) ? Get a tin top instead and use the money you save for a really nice, comfy pair of slippers. Each to their own I say (in this thread at least :wink: ), but if you buy a ragtop then I agree that you should use it properly, whenever possible and practical. Which, with a positive attitude, is a lot more than you'd think.
 
Thank god Bing. This thread just completely lost the plot on page 6. Seems that people will try to turn any thread into a coupe V roadster thread then the transformer brigade pitch up and start shouting about how the E89 is the best of both worlds :cry: .

God! Bluestreak56 even had me down as NEVER buying a soft top roadster..... even though i have. Don't get me wrong, I've had a long line of hot hatches and wouldn't be opposed to another :poke:

I did say when the forum re-jig came about that there should be totally separate sections.

At least this discussion is relevant to the z4's unlike the millions of non-car related threads but each to their own.

Yes coupe vs roadster has been done to death, but I felt that my reasons before were also relevant for this topic.

I wouldnt want to even delve in the TT forum - thats another kettle of fish wouldnt have one of those either! (coupe or roadster)

Sorry OP I meant I agree'd with your sentiment ie why have one then have the top up, seen this multiple times myself also

God you lot can't help yourselves can you! Even when you're purportedly getting the thread back on track!! :)

As someone who has owned both this all gets remarkably tedious.

Back to the original point - if you are never going to drop the roof there is no point. When I owned mine it used to be down when the temperature was circa 15-27 degrees celsius. Anything colder than that or warmer I didn't bother. If the ex-Mrs OG was in the car we very rarely had the roof down despite her having scrunchies and a hairbrush in the glove compartment.
 
90F forecasted for the weekend here. With clear skies not sure if that's nice for driving top down, as long as you're driving it could be okay, but when in stop and go traffic hm not sure :roll:
 
My hardtop is back on, due to the crappy, unpredictable weather

However, there is light at the end of the tunnel as we are off to Bezier's in September for 2 weeks

#hardtop will be staying at home :thumbsup:
