Lots of options, but that route misses out on Buttertubs which might be on some people's 'to do' list.
Good road between Ribblehead and Ingleton too - but most roads near Hawes are fun
As a start point the Shell garage might be a bit busy for more than a couple of cars - how about the Garden Centre half way between Pool and Otley (Stephen h smiths) or one of the big lay bys just Pool side of it?

edit- I had to thrash the 2.0L to keep up as the difference in performance to red zed's coupe in front of me was substantial - my brakes were starting to fade at the end. He probably wasn't pushing his car at all.

-- I chose 37.7 mpg over 3.0L and I think it was a reasonable choice. There are just some situations where it makes things slightly trickier. -- I wouldn't risk an incident to keep up though.
